Yep I just have the one shot a day...the pens looked so convenient. I dunno what their reasoning is. I should have the doctor prescribe it that way and see what they say. Just to mess with them. Currently I think the prescrition is for the vials and syringes...its a 90 day supply. Maybe in July when the reills are up I will do an experiment lol. He will do it too. Hes impressed with my chart.

Stupid. If you're going to cover Lantus you should cover it in whatever form people want to take it in. Not covering the pens is just nonsensical. I was only on one shot of Lantus a day and my doctor was still pushing me to switch to the pens. I chose a pump instead and love it but especially for day-time shots my pens made life much easier.

Yeah me too Just dropped 180 on both insulins and the blood pressure pills. And thats with great Insurance. I hafta become more educated on this national healthcare and find out what it means for us....Also I found out my insurance well the prescription part of it...doesent do the Lantus pens. :(

I was them on WDD and they looked really cool and was hoping to get them versus the vials and syringes this time...oh well

I'm with the guy who says there's no help for the type 1's! The article started out with $100 - $200 a month without insurance and my first thought was wait! that's close to what I pay with insurance. I will keep hoping and praying for the day when generic insulin is available. Until then I'll be glad I have decent health insurance or it would cost a lot more.

ThunderOwl, I'm never had an prophylactic allergy but I do have a mild allergy to novolog insulin. My doctor just keeps me on humalog. At this point there are a number of competing brands of insulin so chances are they'll find one that works... unless you really are actually allergic to the insulin itself. Let us know when they find out what works for you!

Count me in as a PA diabetic! Downingtown/West Chester to be exact, in the greater Philly area. I just found out I am Type 1, with RAPID onset of the need for insulin, AND a lovely anaphylactic insulin allergy to boot. *grumbles* Oh gods! How does anyone deal with this? :P The picture you see is me in Italy a year ago and 55 pounds heavier. If they find an insulin I can take without dying, I want to start using a pump. I am just looking for info and friends. :)

Sure Marie. Joanne and I went to a fascinating lecture about circulation in the extremities (specifically the legs and feet) and diabetes. Let me get all the thoughts together about it and maybe with Joannes help, I can put something up. Very very important information regarding blockages and thrombosis that would bb valuable for everyone to know but esp those with D.
