Hi Ladies,

I'm a new type 1 and new to this forum. I was diagnosed almost a year ago. I'm also a mom of two kidlets and I'm currently 4 months pregnant with my third. This is my first pregnancy with type 1, my first two were gestational diabetes, instead of T1. So far my pregnancy is going good and I'm on a pump which makes life easier than ever before. Thought I would introduce myself and say hello.

Hi guys!

I'm about eight weeks along, and FRUSTRATED!! I'm T2 and per doctor's orders, I'm continuing on my Metformin (max dose of 2500 daily) and now doing insulin injections to try to keep the blood sugars down. It's a constant battle...as I'll up the insulin (per dr's orders) and the first time, my results will *almost* be where they should be, and then the second meal (comparing breakfast one day with breakfast the next, etc.) will be right back up again! Doesn't matter how healthy/appropriately I eat. Not to mention, my doctor said if I don't keep them down, the baby might wind up deformed (a sentence which echoes in my mind CONSTANTLY). I'm SO stressed...and I feel like such a jerk because my husband and I wanted to get pregnant, had tried for YEARS, and now that I am forcing my innocent little baby to fight for his life...when he shouldn't have to. I don't know...I'm basically venting...but I'm SO STRESSED!!

Any advice? I have another appointment with my Diabetes Centre tomorrow, and will bring all of this to their attention...until then, my heart is going crazy (undiagnosed as-of-yet problems) because I can't seem to calm down. :*(

I just found out today that I'm pregnant. We are going to find out tomorrow hopefully how far along I am. I'm anywhere between a week to 6 weeks pregnant.

Subina, I know how scary it is. I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 5th child. It was not planned, but my bs levels have been pretty good. Over the years I have not always been the best diabetic. My oldest child was born with a heart problem due to my high bs levels. She didn't require surgery, but does have to have her heart checked every few years. I've also had 3 more children, and I didn't have the best numbers with my 2nd either, but she was born with no problems, along with my last two....It's great that you have brought your bsl down. Try not to stress on what they were, stress can raise your bloodsugar. You brought your bs down early, which is all you can do. Before you know it, you will need more and more insulin to see the numbers you need to see. I don't know if you have heard of the website diabeticmommy.com, but there are lots of pregnant diabetics, and diabetics with small children on there. Good luck to you. I am 6 weeks pregnant. My family doctor says that dont worry about the baby, since I conceived with the high blood sugar levels. But, my endo says that it is not good. Cause first 6 weeks baby develops there spine and other organs. I am so worried. One doc says is ok other says in between. Endo says that if u want to go forward then we will go forward. I am just so worried about the baby. If someone can please let me know if they have been through same situation. I have diebeties for last 10 years. I have started taking insulin for last 2 weeks, my sugar levels are good. But I am just scared wat if something is wrong with the baby. Please I need advise if someone also concieved with higher blood glucose and they had any complications or anything. Thanks. I will be waiting.

We just found out that I am pregnant with our 5th child. I have had type 1 diabetes for 23 years. I have been looking for any other long term type 1's who are pregnant with their 4th or 5th child. So far, no luck. All I can find is gestational or type 2. I was looking for someone who can totally relate to me. ;o)

The pregnancy is done and we now have a beautiful baby girl, Gabrielle, added to our family! Gabby is healthy w/no complications from diabetes. My sugars are returning to a more normal state too. Just need to stress, stay strong during the pregnancy. Stay true to a healthy diet and allow for a splurge 1 time a week to not wear yourself out and all should come out okay. Gabby was born 7 lb 6 oz and not large at all. Being persistent with diet and checking numbers and staying on top of meds is well worth it for your health and your baby's!!!

7 1/2 weeks - and so far so good! :)

Glad I found this group. I'm 32 weeks and fighting insulin resistance everyday. It's like trying to hit a moving target. I miss the days of "set it and forget it!"

Pregnant and due in April w/2nd girl. My other girl was an April baby as well. So far A1C is doing pretty good. I hate the swings of the BG numbers though from high to low. Different every day. Stinkin' hormones! : ) Ultrasound coming up next week and hoping all is okay. Don't want to be induced. Yuck! :)
