My favorite bit is his handling of their standing. Once the government didn't want to defend the law, these plaintiffs had no standing. He just laid that on them now. His findings that there is no harm to proponents of the stay is lifted and that the stay has hurt California ecnomically seems to be a compelling reason for his ruling. I just never expect these things to make sense or be spoken so plainly. The 9th Circuit may boot the case because of the standing issue. That would make my day. Things have gotten a whole lot more interesting. If he's lifting the stay, he's confident in his findings and his holdings. I'm absolutely giddy. My administrative manager just called me to see if I was celebrating. :) Then she asked about staffing. I knew it couldn't all be about my joy.

That's one thing about President Obama that is bugging me. (It's not the only thing mind you.) He doesnt' support gay marriage but is okay with a civil union. What in the world is a black man doing supporting the principle of "separate but equal" when it has been proven that the principle is neither. I will probably never forgive the dealing away the public option with the for-profit hospitals. Now with Gibbs shooting his mouth off, this "professional left" is considering sitting this one out. Throw me under the bus with frequent regularity and then punch the hippies in the face so you can build your center-right independents cred.

Sorry. It's been on my mind lately. And it seems I've got a pretty good head of steam built up.

That's easy enough to explain. Supporting civil unions toes the popular line; furthermore, no self-respecting African American will condone the position of groups that aren't their bread-and-butter constituency.

Besides, as the so-called civil rights movement evolved and African Americans bought into the idea of being mainstream, the gap widened between the new haves and the left-behind have-nots. Those who never "made it" are just as villified as the collective lot was before the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr., Robert Kennedy, and Malcolm X threw the movement into a chaos that it never really recovered from.

And didn't you know that it's still stylish to marginalize? We gays and undocumenteds serve a purpose, all right, as the two groups universally acceptable to quash at every opportunity.

I'm very disheartened that we can spend billions of dollars we don't have to prosecute to wars of questionable merit and certainly two wars that we didn't in fact win and we can't with all that have a universal health care system that would be the envy of any other developed, first-world country. Apparently, the poor have only themselves to blame. Just like the long-term unemployed -- it seems to be currently in vogue to rag on the long-term unemployed folks. No matter that there are 6 applicants for any job out there. We may have walked this earth for a hundred thousand years, but we are still, at heart, a tribal society and enjoy making others feel like less. Our tribes are bigger and it seems a whole lot more hate-filled.

What's really outrageous is that nearly all of us are paying for the very wars that, inexplicably, are widely supported among the very same group of people that doesn't want universal healthcare because it's too expensive.
