Calling civil unions "same-sex marriage by another name," Gov. Linda Lingle vetoed legislation allowing same-sex civil unions, saying the decision should be up to the voters rather than a few in government.

What's going on in your State?

I live in California. Judge Walker just finished up his trial on Prop 8. The Proponents of Prop 8 are now trying to invalidate the 18,000 marriages conducted while it was legal. We're one of those 18,000. I am so sorry about the Civil Union flame out. This is clear prejudice. I wonder if this will stand. It's very distressing and painful to see this happen so often. It also makes me very, very angry.

You can't leave the minorities' civil rights up to popular vote. Hell, yeah, I want an activist court. Like the Roberts court hasn't been the most activist court in memory?
Seen on a T-shirt at Denver Pride Parade, June 20, 2010:

"Let me vote on your marriage!"

I'd bet dollars to donuts that [Hawai'i governor] Lingle has a future Senate bid in mind; how else to explain such executive antics?
Are you kidding? I live in South Carolina - home of Jim DeMint, Lindsey Graham, & Joe Wilson ... I might as well live on the moon.
