Hi Vicki: It was a small group, just Emily, her GF Katarina, and me. Emily says that Brande needs to come next time so Brande and Katarina can form a support group :) Unfortunately Katie didn't show. But we sure had fun! Will you be out here towards the end of June? It would be great to get together.
So... how'd the meet go?? If y'all have one in June, I may be in the neighborhood!
I'll be there, too! Looking forward to it.....
Awesome, I'll be there. Hope to meet as many of you as possible!

Comment by Emily Coles on March 1, 2012 at 2:59pm Hey all,
Reminder: those of us in the SF Bay Area are meeting at Blush Wine Bar, THIS SATURDAY at 3pm!
So far I've only heard from a couple takers, and it would be great to have a table's-forth of us in attendance. Good drinks, good snacky food. I'm really looking forward to meeting folks offline!
Powerful! Thanks for the heads-up, Judith!

Comment by Judith on February 13, 2012 at 12:02pm Hey Friends---If you aren't hearing Governor Gregoire's Passionate address as the Gay Marriage Bill is signed in Washington State, tune it in live now and find it somewhere to listen from the beginning. I think it's an historically important speech/moment!..Hooray!....Judith in Portland
I'll be there - looking forward to meeting you all!
Hey, Emily, I will see you at Blush Wine Bar on March 3! Thanks for organizing.

Comment by Emily Coles on February 3, 2012 at 2:44pm I'm with you, Melitta. I think "reclaiming" words that have been used for ill is important, but there are times and places for it, and a general forum on TuDiabetes isn't it (unless the word in question relates to diabetes). I really hated seeing that nasty word--which I've been called, too, and by kids no less--in TuDiabetes, partly because I did not know that JT was gay, and therefore did not assume he was "reclaiming" it. For all I knew, he was some giant homophobe having fun posting a hateful word and then claiming it should be okay because he wasn't directing it against anyone in particular. Obviously within this group I would make a different assumption about how the word's being used... Context is so important.
