who we are

let's spread some love for our full selves. this group is for queer diabetics to share resources, information, and support with one another. maybe we can start talking about how homophobia and ableism intersect too. and once we start talking about it, maybe we can work on dismantling both forms of oppression. what do you say?

There are tons of lo-carb recipe sites now. And we have several groups here at TuD. The most active now is Debra's Low Carb Recipe Swap. You can also consult the Groups category or search "Recipes".....And it's all free!

Welcome, tcarter... wow, you guys are certainly in some kind of trial -- but it's great that you are both watching diet and exercise. Keep it up and you'll eventually get to where diet and exercise are second nature, and you'll wonder how in the world you used to eat the stuff you once did! Do poke around the site, and ask LOTS of questions without feeling intimidated.

And, if there is a silver lining to your and your partner's situation, it is that you each can support and learn from the other.

I'm just up the road in Denver, so look me up if y'all are ever wanting to escape FocusOnTheFamily-ville.

Hi! I want to welcome Tcarter34, OrangeClouds, and Micah! OC and Micah, I am sorry to be slow to welcome you, hope you are still around on TuD and doing okay. Support of friends is so important, to not feel alone and to find motivation.

tcarter---you have come to an excellent haven with a supportive essence and lots of good info. Roam around. Ask questions!!! I'm a lo-carber. My niece and my grandson both have 2 Moms. Yes, of course, moderating carb intake is key, but you will find here a very wide range of folks doing okay with varying degrees of that. Now, take a breath and be calm. I'm sorry I didn't find you sooner to give you great recipes for Thanksgiving, but they are here. You stay in touch now---ALL over TuD. More soon....Judith in Portland, OR, USA

Hey, Folks -- I was wondering if there was any though being given to another SF meet-up? I missed the last one so I was hoping there was a desire to get together again. Any interest?

Hi Katie: Oh, I am so sorry that a low blood sugar kept you from our little gathering! Well, that just means we'll need to do another one. And bring all the GFs. Blush Wine Bar is awesome, BTW.

Comment by Muragaki on March 5, 2012 at 4:31pm

Well, ya gotta start somewhere, and three's as good a number as any!

Unsure about June, the GF's schedule keeps changing. If this one holds, we'll be able to do long-weekend type trips, and one of the first would be SF as one of her sons lives there. I'll keep watching the boards to see what y'all are up to...

Hey all,
SO sorry I couldn't make it :(
I had a last minute insane blood sugar crash and fell asleep after I treated it. I'm super bummed I missed out meeting you all. I'd love to attend another one whenever people can get together next!
And my GF Kiran would totally be into that support group! :)
