Just starting to incorporate raw food in my diet, I think it's going to be a slow journey for me. Does anyone have any advice?

Hello everyone!
I have just been diagnosed with diabetes type 1 and watched a whole lot of videos and read many books. It seems to me that going raw is the best solution.
After I will return from my hospital stay in April, I will start detoxifying my body with green juice.

I just visited two great raw restaurants in the Midwest: Raw Deal in Menomonie, Wi, and Ecopolitan in Minneapolis. I used about a third of the insulin I would normally have for a piece of chocolate cream pie at Raw Deal, and I used about 1.5 units of insulin for a raw burger at Ecopolitan. I am so happy to see these raw restaurants spreading across the country.

December 23rd A1c of 5.8! No meds, just 75% raw vegan with the other 25% whole foods (usually cooked beans) and daily exercise. 5.8, baby, 5.8!

A combination of raw veges, juiced & stored as little iceblocks, can give easy access to small amounts of concentrated goodness whenever you want it. Fruit juices also, though they shouldn't be combined with veges 'cause they require different digestive chemicals for processing to veges... and contain more natural sugars...are still a great food. Just drop two iceblocks into a glass of water to defrost it. I take it once daily before a meal. In raw foods there are enzymes that are destroyed by any cooking process. We need these enzymes at every meal...I'm not sure exactly what role they play but nutritional experts say without them our digestive system struggles, especially over a lifetime. Dr's in Australia often prescribe commercial digestive enzymes & probiotics now. Most veges raw are palatable...I find them delicious 'cause I feel their benefits. Try carrots, celery, cucumber, beetroot, capsicum, spinach, parsley, lemon & ginger for a yummy cocktail! I drink it in small amounts 'cause research declares too little fibre and too concentrated is too much for our system. Check the research! Raw food diets are being used successfully to combat cancers of many types through alkalizing our systems and returning them back to their natural state...before processed foods ruined them. Acidic systems allow diseases to flourish and grow. Raw foods are a daily 'Must Have' on my list. Try it!

Has anyone done a fast or cleanse since their diagnosis. I know that going without anything to eat is definitely not a good idea, but I am thinking about doing the Master Cleanse (essentially you drink a lot of lemon juice, water and maple syrup) for a few days. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

I am curious as to why this works. Does anyone have some science to back it up. You could call me raw-curious.
