hi everyone!
i'm new here and just recently started a mostly raw diet with a little bit of cooked animal protein (eggs) and i'm trying to keep my carbs to dr. bernstein's diet regimen 6-12-12.

so far this has worked amazingly well for me.  in just 3 days i have been able to stop my insulin that i was on for over 2 years and my numbers have been lower than they ever were on insulin.

while i was on insulin i had to eat 5 small meals each day and eat snacks during exercise - just so my BG wouldn't drop too low.  i was always afraid of it dropping too low - so i would eat too much and it would stay high.  of course i was just spiking it and it would then drop...   and on and on...

this morning my BG was 127!!!

i was told i was pretty much a type 1 and only making a little bit of insulin.

well, i guess that little bit is enough!  at least so far.

i have noticed however that i have a lot more gas and bloating since eating so many green smoothies and salads...  anyone know anything to help this?

i think my body has trouble digesting 3 'regular size' meals a day instead of the 5 little meals i usually ate.

but i'm still plugging away - and learning new things daily.  i got dr. bernstein's diabetes diet and there are some good recipes in there - but i need some more green smoothie - or just low carb smoothie recipes!

thanks!

Hi I'm new on here and see that you posted this in June! I sure hope you found some answers somewhere. I am having trouble with my stomach since I started doing more raw food. I have had a lot of improvements in other areas and don't want to quit. Did you find things got any better with your digestion as you kept at it?
