Time is still very limited. My husband, also recently diagnosed with type 2, also has heart problems. He had his pacemaker changed to a defribilator recently, so I mostly stay home with him. I spend alot of time learning new things on the computer (not very good at it) and spend alot of time at different diabetes sites and recipes sites. I love to cook and now I have to learn what I can still make and what changes have to be made.
Hi Tudy!
I do the same thing and as far as I know I don't have ADD, maybe I should have the Dr. check it out next time I go. I go to put something away and see a a paper or mail and I'll sit down and read it and then say, "What was I doing?" How many times will I go into another room and forget what I went for. I'm sure there are plenty of people that do the same thing, and..... my dishes aren't done yet either.
I had a combination of three diseases three years ago, that put me in the hospital for four months, with one of them in a coma. (One of the diseases was Chronic Necrotizing Pneumonia, which left me with about 73% of my lungs left.) Due to the combinations of drugs they gave me, while I was in the coma, my short term memory is VERY limited. So, I know what you're going through. Do you find yourselve, trying to remember a word that you KNOW you know, and can't remember it, although you've known it all your life? In order to look something up on the web, I have to write it down on a piece of paper, or else I might forget what it was I wanted to look up!
oh Tudy, I have dyslexia and ADD as well - and - I can relate...OH!!! makes life interesting, though, if chaotic...lol........C X
I am still re-orienting myself! I work sort of one third time, not quite as much as half time, and at home - thats good though, keeps me in touch a bit. I also care for my 91 year old mother - but it is good not to have the pressure of my own business.

I have got crazy about photography - got a new camera and am just learning how to use it, I need to learn how to upload photographs and am very very new. BUT - the first photo I took and someone uploaded for me was accepted for Google Earth - which is my other hobby!! Because of my mother, I cant travel right now - thats ok, though, I accept that. But every night, between 12 and 2 am I travel on Google Earth (am in Alaska right now!) and listen to Jazzy - and THAT is a new hobby as well. My other new 'hobby' is my beautiful greyhound Bess - who is a retired greyhound. It is really great to have these new interests - I couldnt do anything but work until about five months ago...what about you, Manny? Cathrynn x
I love to read thrillers. I teach a Bible study every Wednesday evening. This requires some Bible reading and PowerPoint preparation. I volunteer at the local library for four hours every Friday. During Wisconsin's somewhat limited season, I love to golf. I am the webmaster for our church's website at http://wildrosebaptist.org

I don't feel retired and don't like being so. I had to go out on disability. I had planned on working until the day I died. My youngest child completed college in the area and has gone away to grad school so alone for the first time in 38 yrs. I take tai chi lessons, take 3 college classes a semester for the past 3 years to keep my mind sharp, tutor college kids, volunteer at church foodbanks, and local civic theater for live productions. I like living life fast and hard and slide in on my rear sideways at the end of the day. Life is short and I want the ride to be good.
Since I can no longer drive anywhere (disabled due to a stroke), I usually stay in front of one of my computers except when I go outside to feed the birds. I read newsgroups, let my computers participate in BOINC projects (mostly those for helping medical research), and search the web. I used to be heavily into amateur photography - about 30,000 slides.
My oldest brother was heaviliy into photography and probably has as many slides as you do. What he is going to do with them now I have no idea. He sold some to Leanin' Tree greeting cards of nature shots. He really had a calling.
I've been thinking of getting a slide scanner so that I can transfer all those slides into computer files, but the ones I've found so far appear to be rather slow for that many slides.

Hi robert, I am new on this site..I am retired too but led a very busy life befor I too landed in hospital with small stroke...Now I do not do much except family research on computer and on sites like this and others. I also watch tv, play with grandkids.
I used to take a lot of slides when the family camped all over the us...are you having someone take your slides and putting them on dvds to be shown on the tv? and if so who do you reccommend to do so...hope your retirement is happy and healthy.
