Hi everyone. I'm diabetic since 1992 and I'm diving since 1995. I have around 100 diving, mainly in Canada. I have my NAUI dive master certification and my Ice Diving certification. Here is some pics of cold water diving, and ice diving. I'm happy to found other diabetic divers.

cool pics. I haven't had the guts to try diving again since diagnosed 5 years ago and I miss it ALOT
Jeff,

No reason at all not to get back in the water. Check before and after, carry a tube of liquid glucose goop in a pocket on your BC, and have a blast!

Thanks Jeff.

I agree with Rock. Test a lot before the dive (2hres, 1 hres, 30 minutes and just before the dive) to see the trend. There is also some pages about scuba diving in the book "The diabetic athlet" that are very interesting. I recommand it. Talk with your endo about that. He/she may help you with that.

DAN (Divers Alert Network) also has a protocol for diabetics on insulin to dive safely.

Thanks Joan, and welcome to the group !

Thanks Mario. I just got back from a month's diving in Bonaire. I agree ... Just keep testing, watch the trends and carry fast acting carbs. I find that the honey Stingers work best for me. No need to give up diving!
