I've been drinking licorice root tea for years. Apparently, licorice has been used medicinally for thousands of years and is supposedly helpful in regulating blood-sugar levels.

Even though I can't tell for sure whether licorice root helps regulate my blood-sugar levels, I love the sweet taste of the herb. Yogi Tea has a great "Egyptian Licorice Tea" that also has cinnamon, which some say reduces blood-sugar levels and lowers blood cholesterol. They also have a "Egyptian Licorice Mint Tea" that is very tasty.

I've also read that licorice should not be used if you have high blood pressure. So, take care.

I also swear by teas of various kinds---about 1.5 quarts/day. My own mix: Dandelion for liver health; Ginger for digestion; Chamomile for relaxation (and digestion); Green decaf with Kombucha for immune support; plain green decaf for everything! I've been wary of licorice because it can raise blood pressure. But it's wonderful that it is helping you! Teas are powerful medicine. I also use Nopal powder (ancient South American remedy for "the sugar sickness") and hawthorne tincture for the heart......Be well...Judith in Portland
