Novo Nordisk Supports Four San Francisco-based Organizations In Fight Against Diabetes
$80,000 in Sponsorships awarded, aimed at helping San Francisco residents living with type 2 diabetes

Novo Nordisk, a world leader in diabetes care, announced today that it has awarded $80,000 in sponsorships to four San Francisco community organizations. The San Francisco sponsorships are part of the nationwide Novo Nordisk Community Care initiative to help rally communities to address the diabetes crisis and support local programs designed to make an impact for people living with type 2 diabetes. According to data commissioned by Novo Nordisk from the Institute of Alternative Futures, as of 2010, San Francisco had more than 433,000 people with diagnosed and undiagnosed diabetes and an additional 1.1 million people in danger of developing diabetes.

You might be talking about a couple of different meet ups. One's a JDRF thing at Hoag down on Newport, another is an insulin pump group (Although non-Pumpers go too) in Santa Ana CA. The attendees are around fifty five & up. Haven't been there in a while, I can't drive due to eye damage from premature birth and the Santa Ana on is hard for me to get to.

New member, based in OC. Just wanted to say hello to the local "gang". Any meetups in the Orange County area? After digging around on-line, I thought I found one at a local hospital that meets once a month. Anyway, hope all is well.

Christalyn, sorry I didnt get to meet up with you and the gang. I did actually have a nice time with another TuDer and the Rep at Animas.

I did have a chance to meet the expo organizer and she said they had actually moved to LA purposefully. To which some other reps replied that it was a great idea and they had been busy all day with questions and hand outs.

I will say the expo was interesting. I heard a lot of useless rhetoric, along with vendors pushing medium carb (30-60 carbs a serving) foods as healthy for Diabetics. Along with the eat 6 meals a day stuff. I guess thats all personal management stuff though. It seemed verry much geared towards new DXed folks and to an extent, I was treated like an idiot until I surpassed the sales reps with information (e.g., MM reps didnt know gauge size of their cannulas). Frankly the Animas Rep was the only one who actually had an intellectual conversation with me about D management and medical devices. Needless to say, he sold me on Animas. =^) All in all Im glad I went without expectations.
