Hey gang- hope everyone is doing well. Great to see the stories - keep 'em coming!

Thought i'd share a small victory: I just got my multi-engine and instrument flight instructor certificate! Tried to upload a pic - don't think it worked...?

Don't let the "big D" keep you away from anything you really want to do!

Cheers!

One of my most classic stories is that when I first went to college, my mom was worried about me because my diabetic troubles were severe hypoglycemic seizures in the middle of the night, and she was afraid my roommates wouldn't be able to help me quick enough. So we went to WalMart to stock up on sweet snacks and before bed time foods to boost my bg, and as we're walking in, my mom says "Now honey, don't forget to get high before you go to bed every night!!" and the families walking past us had the most priceless faces EVERRR hahahaha little did they know she wasn't talking about drugs :)

Good for you Nancy. It amazes me that even in our local Diabetes group the ones that are most non-compliant are those in the medical profession. So much for good role models.

I get a kick out of co-workers watching me go aside to check by bg, 'shoot up' and then observe what I eat.
I am one of 3 T2's in my nursing unit on insulin . The other 2 are not compliamnt and are always eating sweets, chips, etc. I know the other nurses watch to see if I will 'fall' off the wagon. I have to disappoint them every time.

I love it! Today I went into my favorite coffeeshop for a "skinny mocha" which in our language means no sugar, lo fat milk and no whipped cream. I have to laugh because I have explained "why" to the lady who is making it a million times, now to find out she is one of "us"....and knew all along, she just likes to hear me tell it.
AND the people behind me, who are on a "biggest loser" game at work order it like that all the time, because they heard us talking about how healthy it was....what a hoot!
