Hi im new to this group so Im just going to put my two cents in. Im going to have to say that sometimes I have to laugh at what I must look like to other people when I go into a restaurant and cant say exactly what I want because my BG is low. I mean I probably look like I just walked out of a bar with the girls and decided to eat at this nice restaurant.

Hello all- I agree with Cathy...This D-betes thing is a hoot! Uh...maybe. But....I'm seeing more and more tell-tale insulin pumps out there. I was up at the HUGE Oshkosh airshow a couple weeks ago and ran into like 10 folks with diabetes just by chance conversations. And not one of them was all crabby about it. Sure, it changes lots of things in life-I know I've had some issues; But if we can grin a little bit here and there, maybe it won't be such a bummer!

Oh, and yes, I flew to Wisconsin for the big airshow - Took 7 hours from Oklahoma. Pictures to follow!

This doesn't have to be so serious. Yes it's a serious thing, but if we can't poke fun at ourselves or our diagnosis, then who can. I believe in keeping things light and simple....not so heavy. I haven't died yet!

Yeah....my timing is awesome. See below- I spoke of Douglas Cairns. He's an ex-RAF pilot/instructor, diagnosed with Type 1, and later the FIRST T-1 diabetic to fly around the world. He raised all kinds of $$ and awareness along the way...well, it just so happens that HE is going to be going for that record (fastest to land in all 48 states)....Next month!

Check out www.diabetesflight48.com, and www.diabetesworldflight.com.

Truly, if you set your mind to it, you CAN do anything! Let's all support Doug!

Now THAT is keeping diabetes FUN!

That sound like so much fun.

I am a former private pilot. Most of the time in Grumman Tiger.

I think for the record it only has to be a touch and go, but for promotional purposes I suppose a few longer stops would be worked in there....and for fuel.
BadShoe Comment by BadShoe on May 19, 2009 at 2:33pm
Do they gotta be full stop or can you touch and go?
