Brian, I think that is an awesome idea! Plus it will also inspire kids with Type 1 that they can do anything!

Reminds me a little of those kids/young men who went all over the country dressed in suits. I can't remember what their cause was, but they made it into the news!

OK here's my latest: since I'm a pilot, I'm thinking of promoting awareness by (trying to?) breaking a record by landing in all 48 contiguous states in less than 131 hours. The last record was set way back in 1999, and NOT by a Type 1 diabetic! That's over 5 days! I'm sure I could do it in 3.

I'm sure some of you don't know, but a British fellas named Doug Cairns was the 1st Type 1 to fly around the world- one hell of a feat. And Michael Hunter is the only T-1 airshow pilot in the world. Great inspiration...and since I can no longer fly the 'fast' jets in the Air Force, but I CAN fly civilian, why not use that to raise awareness and maybe get some research money sent our way...?

thoughts?

I think we are on to something and why don't they share the study grant with us to throw a party?

Hey everyone! What's the funniest "big-D"-related story or event that's happened to you lately (...or ever?)

I had a TOTAL RANDOM try to rip my pump off in a club in Vegas- my shirt brushed up to reveal my artifical pancreas attached to my belt--at which point she mumbled something about "..being important or some shit" and tried to forcibly remove me from it. Not all that funny at the time, but a grinner now- actually the funnier part was how I chose to reprimand this floosie (?) on the spot- flurry of F-bombs for sure!

Ahhh! Just found out the Air Force won't let me even "fly" their UAVs (unmanned planes, wher you sit at a computer thousands of miles away from the action). Long battle, and it sucks to lose, but at least it's done. Now on to something different (still stayin in the AF though).

Although I still haven't NAMED MY PANCREAS (Erin!), I am contemplating packing away a whole "sleeve" of Thin Mints (BadShoe!) before taking my puppy for a walk...really just a great shoulder workout as she tries to dislocate my arm for an hour! (not quite grasping the "Ginger! HEEEL! GINGER!" bit yet).

Hope everyone is doing well! more updates to follow...and photos- I've started flying (civilian) a lot more, and will be posting some nice pics as I get them...

Cheers!

Who eats thin mints by the cookie? A sleeve is a serving size.
(Props to Brian Regan's Fig Newton bit.)

Well Helllooooooo there everyone! I'm back at it. Sorry for the long delay! I'm all done with the "deployment" to Creech AFB, NV, and am back in wonderful (???) Enid, Oklahoma. for the time being, i'm still waiting on the Air Force to make a decision about my career. can you believe it's taking this long?! that's jsut great.

...So I was rocking out the other day with a box of Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies- you know, they only have 5 carbs each? YEESSS! you know you love 'em! funny thing is they've got a "sugar free"' something or other, and there's like 7 carbs each! Perfect! maybe i'll just stick to fudge... :)

I hate to tell youthis Brian, but just from my experience, they are right. I tend to have a tough time with hypo's since beingonthe pump. But that is at first, when you get used to it and can adjust like you did to your diet and insulin injections, it gets alot better. Just tricky.
Might help to know that the tests were based on NEw insulin pump users and not long time users.

Damn, I hope your able to stay in the millitary, our livign my dream life. :)

Just wait till you get out, then as a civilian you can put up with the government workign i differnt ways thrugh insurance andother denials. LOL But that is another story that is FUN.

Tahke care, wish I could help.

I wish you well

Robert
