Hi, this group & site it too cool! I am new here & navigating the site. I am so excited to be on this site! I was diagnosed in 1968 & live in a rural area. I don't know anyone who had type I & Dr.'s in this area are use to dealing w/type 2. I do not have to feel alone any more. When I was dianosed I remember being in a crib at a hospital & my mother taking me out of the crib. I remember testing my glucose by uring...I don't remember the blood samples until I was older.

I am just so glad to have found this site & thank all of you for sharing your stories/comments!!

I am grateful!

I am on a Minimed pump. If you know where I can get some reservoirs and infusions sets that would be great. I have plenty of Novalog insulin. Thanks for your interest. I could not afford the Cobra Insurance.

Vicki:
Sorry to hear about your trigger fingers I've been through 4 of them one had to be done twice. And also sorry to hear about the RA. I understand about the health insurance I am on Cobra right now and it takes up half of my work comp check. What pump are you using ? Sometimes there are people out there who have extra supplies that they are willing to part with. I have heard that Minimed is willing to work with people too just some thoughts. And where I live there is nowhere to go for help with diabetes supplies : (
Sending you lots of ((((hugs)))))

I was diagnosed at age 12 in 1969. So 40 plus years here. I was first on a pump in 1982 when still experimental. Off and on again since. Never have had really good control. I was diagnosed with RA last year as well. My biggest problem has been trigger finger. I have had 15 surgerys on hands and wrist tendons. I am on the pump until my supplies run out. I lost my insurance last year. Then back up is lantus.

I switched from Humalog to Novalog because of insurance reasons, don't know if Apidra is on their "preferred drug" list.

I don't know about that but this was my personal experience when I switched and then when I told my diabetes educator he said that seems to be a common thing when people make the switch : )

I'm taking Novalog at meals and Lantus at bedtime. I've heard that evening out your BS and not having as many lows can bring back some of the signs??
