Favorite vegetable? Hmmmm, let me think... probably raw carrots, with cabbage coming next, either cooked or raw, as in cole slaw.

And Christalyn, you're absolutely right -- obesity does NOT cause T2. That's a myth that the media loves to propagate. T2 is so darn complicated that the scientists still don't know what causes it, except that there is clearly a genetic propensity. Except that even THAT is not simple -- it's not a clear case of one gene, dominant/recessive. T2s need to get proactive, knowledgeable, and NOT let the medical professionals and the media get on their case with stuff that is not true. Healthy eating and exercise, yes, but for EVERYONE -- no blame game, and no guilt!! Hah!

Oh yeah since I am on a roll here...
On my personal website -that I can not mention here- I am spotlighting the history of comfort foods and old time favorite foods. My first installment was the McRibb.

If you have any suggestions on other foods please let me know and I will do the research......Since hostess seems to have gone belly up...I was thinking about doing the Twinkie next....

My favorite veggie is SPINACH!! Even as a little girl I loved spinach. Watching Popeye only made eating spinach easier.

I have always wonder are corn and peas really veggies so they are so starchy..Are they on the edge of being veggies without crossing the line or what.....

Another testament that Type 2 is not a disease of obesity....

The former largest man in the world-Paul Mason of the UK- at his heaviest weighed 980 lbs!!!! He did not have any signs or symptoms of any type of diabetes especially Type 2!

Today he is trying to get the British health system to order removal of the hanging skin from his 680 lbs weight loss. Still no evidence of diabetes. The British health care system told him he would have to wait for 2 years before having the surgery to remove elongated skin from weight loss. So if anybody tells you again that all fat people get diabetes...this is a living example of how wrong they are.

Dr. Bernstein, whose recommendations I have found very useful, says this is very common, it has to do with dawn phenomenon. Apparently this is very hard to deal with as are most things to do with dawn phenomenon. His recommendation, to avoid the unwanted spike, is not to exercise until late morning.

Hi Carly!!
Just a thought....your higher numbers AFTER you get off the treadmill MAY be due to a rebound effect. Your liver may be kicking in in anticipation to the upcoming low after the treadmill. I would DEFINITELY eat before getting on.
That might make a difference....let us know!!
hugs....linda

Hi, I didn't want to start a new discussion..I just have a question/comment. When i get up int the am my bg is high around 7-8. Before I eat I ave been going on the treadmill for about 15 - 20 minutes. I get off the machine with a even higher BG! What gives! Also, should I just eat breakfast and hope the best.
