I wanted to know if anybody would like to guess post on my blog? It would appear in February and it could on any topic you would like pertaining to your experience and T2 diabetes.

Right now on my blog I just published the history of Twinkies. Since they might be completely extinct by yearend I though it would be cool to explore the history of this ironically fattening treat!

I"ve heard of it. There are quite a few stuff online to google on it. Most people are a mix of fast and slow but we might be slow oxidizer temporarily when ill. I lost interest in the diet when I figured I was neither fast nor slow. Now that I have diabetes, it could be some of us PWD are slow oxidizers but since we can't get more carbs, (the diet recommended is 60% carbs) I wouldn't follow it totally.

Has anybody heard of a metabolism rate called a slow oxidizer? I was filling information for a website with Jillian Michaels and they called me this. What is it and should I give this any credence in my weight loss journey?

Revelations!!!

For the past two days I have been able to sleep the whole night uninterrupted. Normally I would get up several times during the night for food or use the restroom. I one noticeable different is that my BG levels have been considerably lower. They were 180. For the past 8 months I have had BG levels in the 300-400's. It seems the trick that is working for me is not to eat or snack. I don't this is the answer to my weight loss journey but it is a start.

Used to like succotash but now I see it as way too many carbs for me. Just Googled it 38.09g/cup. If I saw some at a pot luck, I would probably take a tiny taste though. I usually do what picklebird does and combine multiple veggies in a pan to which I usually add some meat. Between different veggie/meat combo's and different spices the possibilities are endless.

My favorite vegetable is CORN ON THE COB! (Even though I only have 5 teeth left, I still try to manage it!) Then there's creamed corn, followed by plain corn, with butter melted on it. (Notice a trend here?) My favorite way of having a vegetable medley, though, is with snow peas, carrots, and bamboo shoots, done in a wok.

Can't seem to pick a favorite veggie but I do like to have my veggies mixed. My favorite is cooking at least three varieties, prefer up to five, at one time in frying pan with a little extra virgin olive oil. At one time my hubby and I decided to broaden our taste buds by aiming for 12 kinds of veggies a week. This was really ambitious for us at the time because all we would eat was green beans.

Do I really have to choose my favorite? I love veggies of all kinds, so I just pick what looks best or what I want for the season or whatever... I love to change what I eat regularly...

My favorite veggie would be cauliflower because its so versatile. It can be used as a substitute for mashed potatoes and even pizza crust. I stumbled upon a new use for it recently in a low carb BBQ book. Mock potato salad substituting cauliflower for the potato, not bad.
