According to everything I have read, there is nothing you can do to lose fat in a specific area. Exercise builds muscle, and diet makes you lose weight, but it is general weight loss. If you carry your weight in that area, you just do, and that's your genetic makeup and you can't change it, unless you get anorexically thin, PLEASE don't do that! Me, I have the spare tire around the area between bottom of breasts and belly button, just like Christalyn described, but it's not large, and there is nothing I can do to move it. No hips, no butt and thin thighs -- the ONLY place I carry weight is there. Even the stretched out skin from my pregnancy is just flab -- no fat there. So I'm working on accepting the concept that we are MEANT to have different shaped bodies, and that one shape is just as beautiful as another -- they're just different. And your weight matters much less than your HEALTH -- women who are a little bit zaftig have the best longevity, and least morbidity. People who are too thin, and people who are morbidly overweight are the ones who suffer the most, and the models in the magazines are the LAST people you should see as beautiful -- they're dressed carefully to hide their flaws, and their skin is airbrushed. They AREN'T REAL!! So I'm really committed to accepting my body shape (although it's HARD) and concentrating on keeping myself healthy by eating properly and exercising to my capacity, and doing things that make me happy. No more obsession over my body!!

Yes...I too am thin, but the muffin top found me anyway!! I also would be interested in an exercise that focuses on THAT area specifically, without being too stressful on my lower back.

No, but I got a muffin top even though I am thin. Studies say it is related to cortisol and stress. I wonder if I just need to figure an exercise to fix the problem area. I do a lot of walking, biking and some of the arm machines at gym. guess that won't get stuff on the abdomen.

I know you don't like it, but liposuction is NOT the answer. I've read studies that say that the body then starts to deposit fat in the visceral area, which is the worst metabolically. I know you have no control over where your body deposits fat, but don't make it worse. The subcutaneous fat is not "pretty" but it's not metabolically bad. But visceral fat IS, and you don't want to encourage that! :-(

Does anybody else have this bubble of fat starting from the bottom of where the breast would end to the top of the navel? I have been told this is another after affect of being diabetic. Is this true? I might have it sucked out by a surgeon.

Here's a link to a webpage from the ADA. The article says that "A report from the National Academy of Sciences that found "limited/suggestive" evidence of an association between the chemicals used in herbicides during the Vietnam War, such as Agent Orange, and type 2 diabetes" means Vietnam vets are eligible for disability compensation if they have T2.

I was at a local advocacy meeting sponsored by the LA chapter of the ADA. This is very surprising because they really have been severely non existent in the Los Angeles area. A gentleman was there who was a representative of a Veterans group stated that Agent Orange has been known to cause diabetes. Does anybody have any information about this?????

I just got back from the Presidential Inauguration!!!! When I told folks I was from Los Angeles it made people more excited because most people were from the eastern part of the midwest and east coast.

Had a ball!!!! Yes it was cold....
