My mother leaves things lying around. I saw a blood test form and a letter requesting her to repeat fasting blood test urgently - dated 3rd December and she obviously has done nothing about it yet. The letter does not say WHY they want her to have the blood test done again, but on the form it says Borderline Glucose. The test is an HB1AC which I know from being diabetic myself that that is what they are testing for.
Thing is, how do I break it to her that that is what they are thinking about and impress on her the importance of getting the test done?
She has received a telephone call from her doctor's surgery asking her to be at home on this Friday between such and such a time as the doctor wishes to discuss something with her, and I have a feeling that that is what it is.
Becoming diabetic is scary thing for people in the know. Being a 14 year old type one, and being diagnosed only two and a half years ago (new years day 2010) my brother showed the signs and he denied having it yet eventually we got him to do a test and then we took him t hospital. As soon as it was confirmed, he was thinking ahead and took a positive attitude towards it. I imagine she is fearful however will be good about it once she finds out whether she is. Good luck and I hope she isn't. La Xx
