Ok so its only saline over the weekend but Horace (yep i named my pump) is attached and thats were hes going to stay. Can't wait till monday morning last injection (unless theres problems with the pump) and hopefully the first steps on the road to a more stable BG and lower HB1AC.

Congratulations on your last injection! Good luck with it Jan- I started in December so i'm quite new to it too! I found it a bit fiddly to start with working out how to refill, change canulas, order my supplies etc- but thats all really easy now. Also i found setting my basal rates a bit tricky but got that sorted now too- finding it 100 times easier than the injections to control my levels now- and even just a few days in. The insulin just seems to get where its going better. My hba1c was ok but not perfect before (in the high 7s) but my levels were all over the place and I know I'm much better now so hope it will be the same for you.
Now been on insulin since monday and BG levels are much steadier although slighterly higher than i'd like. Have been advised not to change any basal rates for a couple of weeks to let things settle down. Ordering seems fairly straight forward so thats one less thing to worry about. Where do you wear your pump? I would love to find a soft case which clips onto my waistband but haven't been able to find one yet.
I mainly wear it in my pocket, threading the tubing through a small hole in the lining! Or clipped onto my pyjamas at night- I've had a hard plastic clip thing for it. Also got a thigh thing for wearing it with skirts and dresses which is really good. The only soft pouches for mine (spirit combo) seem to be designed to thread onto a belt and I don't really wear belts. Let me know if you find any good accessory sites that supply to UK!

I also got really fustrated with my basal rates, I was always really high in the morning and abefore bed (turns out I have dawn and dusk phenomenon) but ok in the day- took a lot of tweaking. I now need as much as 1.2 units/hr between 3 and 7 am and 4 and 7pm but only 0.5 for most of the day. I'm sure your team will help you sort this out in a week or 2, good luck .
I'm using the accuchek combo too so will let you know if i find anything, did you get the thigh thing from Roche.

My BGs are quite steady but a bit higher than i'd like but been told that its safer to be a bit on the high side for the first couple of weeks. Having said that have still manage to go low at least once a day, think i'm seeing a pattern emerging!!

Enjoy having your life back again. Herbert (my pump's name :p) and I wish you luck! Not gonna lie, canulas are annoying. I have a set change today and am profusely putting it off until after ten o clock as I always do as I am lazy. Bring in the chocolate again like before diagnosis ( I still can't remember what I filled my time with in those days).
