I've received tremendous care from the VA, with a few notable exceptions.

I have been frustrated with the appointment making process. One time I got the letter in the mail the day after the appointment was supposed to have been. So of course that was a no show.

Sorry, Chaplin ET, but if you weren/t diagnosed during service, they will automatically reject any claim... If you feel you do have service connected diabetes, I suggest you get a good lawyer...

Hey, fellow Vets! I just went to visit my VA doctor, and he told me that my Diabetes wasn't compensable! Is that because I got it in '86, after I was retired in '77? (I should say I was DIAGNOSED in '86.)

MY VA endocrinologist order a Minimed 523 for me on Oct. 11 and today (Halloween) I have a delivery from Minimed on the truck. Could I get any luckier?

Yes I was incountry during the usage of Agent Orange and that was the mitigating circumstance. I also have Chronic Kidney Disease, Ishlemic Heart disease and diabetic neuropathy. I applied on line through the MyHealthVeteran.va.gov. You can also get the forms from the VA.gov website.

How did you get disability for diabetes? Were you incountry in Vietnam so the agent orange stuff gets to be the mitigating circumstances? NEED TO KNOW---internet site that you used to file comp & pen. Not on healthyevet. Right now I am 50% SC for PTSD. If I could get even 20% more, my life would be easier $$. What associated problems do you have (if I may be so bold?)

I was diagnosed by my PCP in a civilian hospital. I was not aware, at that time, of what the VA could and would offer. I had lousy assistance with "The Big D" outside of being given medications and insulin. It wasn't until after I moved to the UP in Michigan, that I started using the VAMC close by and stated researching what the VA could do. I filed all paperwork for comp & pen over the internet without assistance of a SO. I now have 80% disability due to diabetes and associated problems.
