Hi all,

Is anyone out there in western mass? I'm in Easthampton and have been trying to find active 'betes who want to get together for hiking/ cycling/ ice skating- whatever. Wouldn't it be chill to be with a bunch of people who also have to test and deal with food issues and exercise?
Check out my page and drop me a line if you are interested!

Hi Ruth -

While I don't live in Western Mass, I went to Westfield State College and still visit a couple of people out that way. I'd be interested in getting together for hiking, cycling. There are so many great places to go out there. As long as I know ahead of time, I could plan on doing something.
Hi Ruth
I live in North Adams I think it would be kinda neat to meet some others with the same issues
Hey Ruth, members of the DESA Boston Chapter just did a bike ride from Easthampton to Northampton on the Manhan Rail Trail. We had lunch at the Northampton Brewery. Next Sat 10/29 we will be riding from Northampton to Amherst. Please join us if you can. The details are posted on the DESA Boston Chapter yahoo group site. You don't have to be a member of DESA just someone who likes to ride a bike, get some exercise, see some great New England scenery, and have fun with a friendly group of Type 1's

Hi all,

Insulindependence is having a bike ride tomorrow, starting in Easthampton. Here are the details:

Bike ride from Easthampton, MA to Northampton, MA along the Manhan Rail Trail and then return to Easthampton.

Lunch in Northampton (lots of options*; we can decide that day), and back to
Easthampton.

(Relatively flat and easy trail; one short stretch where you need to ride on
road, but it's a wide road without too much traffic)

Meet at 10:30 (probably arrive back in Easthampton around 3:30)

Rough directions:
Take I-90 to Exit 4 for I-91N towards Holyoke. Take Exit 17B (Rte 141) towards Easthampton and follow Rte 141 for approx. 5 miles to the Easthampton Village Pizza and New Beginnings Chiropractic strip mall (100 Union St. - on the left) in downtown Easthampton. Park in the mall's parking lot. As you enter the lot, the Trail is at the far right end.

Google directions here. M! anhan Trail website at: http://manhanrailtrail.org

*A sampling of restaurant choices for lunch includes: Northampton Brewery (good brews, OK sandwiches); Paul & Elizabeth's (natural foods -including fish; beer and wine); Local Burger (great burgers, no alcoholic drinks); Amanouz (great Mediterranean and Moroccan; no alcohol); India Palace (the name says it all) and .....
