Hi everyone! I live in Atlanta via Destin, Florida, only for school. I'm a type 1 diagnosed June of this year right before my 28th birthday after being sick for months! My life has been turned upside down, inside out in the last few months! Having diabetes isn't a walk in the park, that's for sure!
Erika Roe Comment by Erika Roe on August 20, 2009 at 10:45am
My name is Erika and I was diagnosed 7/28/04, eventually properly diagnosed as Type 1. Currently on an Omnipod insulin pump. I get bad rashes from the pods and they are very itchy especially after the first day. Any advice on how to get these rashes to stop would be good. Currently I'm trying IV 3000 under the pod with a holepunch for the cannula. I'm hoping Animas can provide me some relief but my warranty isn't up yet. I work at NC State University, my alma mater, if anyone is nearby.

Hi, my name is Dot and I was diagnosed with Type 2 on May 26, 2009. On 2 grams of Metformin but so far my lowest bg has been 127. I'm probably easting too many carbs...before now I had never really counted vegetables (broccolli, green beans) as carbs! Anyway, I live in Atlanta, GA and would like to be a member of this group!

I'm Geoffrey, hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina
I've had diabetes for 5 years, my brother has had it for 17, so i've lived around it for a while.
My mom is a CDE and pump trainer, so i get to play with all of the new pumps and meters as soon as the reps give her one

Hello from the Pensacola, FL area. I am joining the group.

I am a newcomer to diabetes (type 2). I am 43 years old. I was diagnosed on May 9, 2009. I was placed on pills and, with the help of a friend with diabetes, I have managed to cut my blood sugar from a high at initial diagnosis at 276 and got it to a low of 84 in about a week and a half period of time. Since that time, I have managed to keep my blood sugar mostly around 100 to 115 with an occasional spike as high as 136. The crazy thing about this is that I was never over weight (5'9" tall and 180 lbs). Now I weigh 165 lbs and it was done through a low carb diet and exercise. I am mostly off the pills but I am making sure before walking away from them for good.
