TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

I always feel so alone here on the west coast. It seems a lot of the Diabetes Online Community is on the East coast so a big "thanks" to Manny for starting this group.

But I would love to know "where" in the west you are.

I am in Whittier California which is south of Los Angeles and about 10 minutes to Disneyland!

Well for what its worth, I lived in the Bay Area (actually, Monterey, Sunnyvale, Foster City and San Francisco-Cow Hollow) from 1992-1997 ... so I guess that makes me a West Coast transplant! I'm now in New York City, although I could always move again if the right opportunity opens up elsewhere.

My son and daughter-in-law are currently living in Sunnyvale.

The group is growing, man. I've sent invites to a few people that have joined that live in the area.

Anybody up for being Admin of US - West? :)

I'm in Seattle...yeah, I know, it usually gets broken off as Pacific Northwest.

Why, I'm right up in the state capital (Sacramento), George. Don't feel alone... there's plenty of us out there. I used to live in nearby Buena Park back in the seventies.

I have a website on Geocities with lots of helpful info on diabetes, fibromyalgia, and depression. Look it up in my profile. I've also been sharing what I've learned with others on Yahoo! Answers for over a year now.

I'm in Port Orchard, Washington, on the Kitsap Peninsula, just across Puget Sound from Seattle. We get to Seattle by ferry most of the time, but we do have the option of driving around via Tacoma. We both used to live in the Bay Area but we moved up here (him in 1995, me in 1998), met in 2002, and got married in 2004. I was diagnosed Type 2 in 1995, and my husband was diagnosed Type 2 in 2005, just before Thanksgiving.

There seem to be a lot of diabetics in Kitsap County. Everywhere I look I see evidence that we are not alone.

I lived in Newport (Oregon) two different times.. 15 years the first time and 5 years the second time.. I also lived in Vacaville Ca for a year and Las Vegas NV for almost 5 years and for the last almost 12 years have lived in Eastern Oregon.. -- not along the coast but certainly in the WEST. .. I'm off to camp in the next few minutes.. so talk to you all in August when I get home (or maybe for a couple of days during our mid-July break)

Hi George!
I live down south a bit in San Diego. Not too far from you. I'm trying to bribe my kids with a trip to Disneyland at the end of summer if they do some summer reading. (It's not working.) Glad to be here. Hopefully we can get a big west coast group going! I agree that the OC seems to be east coast centric. But there's probably a lot of lurkers (like me) who'll come out of the woodwork with TuDiabetes.

OK, so I'm not living out West currently, but for what its worth, I spent the entire summer up until I was diagnosed with type 1 (back in 1976) in Puyallup, WA and my aunt and uncle still live there, so I also have connections to the Pacific Northwest. I was last there about 3 years ago, but remember spending a week on Vashon Island before it became an overpriced Seattle suburb!

I live and work in San Francisco and have been here for about 8 years. I grew up in the Boston area though.
