I wonder how much depression is self-induced, by our mentally beating ourselves up for something we ate.Continue

Comment by catlover on February 27, 2012 at 9:43am Elizabeth- My daughter is grown and married now, but I used to tell her if she wanted something ( dance class, or clothes or another activity.) I would "contribute" to the item, but I expected her to pay part of it too. Then it was her decision if she wanted to spend the $$ for the item or the activity or not.
Comment by Marie B on February 27, 2012 at 8:58am yes the Monarchs and also our bat population has suffered greatly.
Comment by Elizabeth on February 27, 2012 at 7:15am Here's a question for all you parents of teens... At what point do they start to "get it" that you're not an ATM? My stepdaughter just got her first job, $8/hr at the grocery store, and yet she still turned around and asked me if I would mind paying for another dance class she wants to take. I said, "What's wrong with you using YOUR money to pay for YOUR activity?" She just gave me a blank look.
Comment by Elizabeth on February 27, 2012 at 7:11am I'm at the point where I hope my kids don't have kids. I dread to see what the world will look like 50 years from now. You know what bugs me the most? The decline in monarch butterflies. When I was a kid, I lived in one of the migration corridors for monarchs, and we saw HUNDREDS of them each summer. ONe summer, we captured over a hundred in the course of several hours. We put them in between a window and a screen, and then in the evening we released them all at once. It was amazing to watch them fly off. I don't think I saw a single monarch all last year. Tiger swallowtails, yes, but no monarchs.

Comment by jrtpup on February 26, 2012 at 8:51am I worry for my children, and theirs. We tend to be so shortsighted *sigh*
Comment by Trudy on February 26, 2012 at 8:35am How are you doing, muleman?
Comment by muleman on February 26, 2012 at 8:31am Well if the world is not convinced by now , the term Ostriches, and Heads in the sand, springs to mind!

Comment by Doris D on February 25, 2012 at 12:52pm Nope I think this winter proved that to them
Comment by Trudy on February 25, 2012 at 12:36pm Some folk think that Global Warming is a hoax -- Ha!

Comment by Doris D on February 25, 2012 at 12:30pm It's been almost springlike here too. I'm really hoping that this warm winter dosen't mean a HOT summer around here (hotter than usual thatis)
