Comment by Doris D on May 9, 2012 at 2:28pm Linda I get so upset with the postage and the prices of paper (not to meantion envelops) that my daughter just takes it away from me! LOL! She says the computer will do all I need. I wonder though sometimes.........................

Comment by Linda G on May 9, 2012 at 2:20pm Hand written letters....sigh! Every once in a while, I long for the feel of fine writing paper; not only the kind that you can get at Hallmark's or book stores, but the type of paper that's sold in art stores. Hand made...WITH a ragged edge. Of course, that quality of paper calls for more than run of the mill ball point pen....a sticky blot on such fine paper would technically be considered a grave offense....akin to a sin! No....nothing less than a fountain pen, and REAL ink for such treasured parchment...India ink! I would have to do a rough draft first, so as not to chance wasting the "good stuff"....and since I'm at it, might as well write a couple pages, to make the effort worth while. Folding the thick stock carefully, so as not to create unnecessary creases...the letter is slipped into an envelope of complimenting colour, and sealed. Cannot post it directly in the box, as it's an off size....so it must be taken in to be weighed. HOLY MOLEY....have you seen the cost of postage lately? If your letter varies ever slightly more than the suggested weight and size...slap on a fortune on stamps! So....with the effort taken, the cost of paper, pen, ink, AND postage....who can afford to write any more!! But....Every once in a while, I long for the feel of fine writing paper;
