1. Try Sure-T's 2. if u like them, you won't need an inserter. 3. Sure-T's are the only sets I will use, because I used other sets for years and got sick of the problems with them. Do YOURSELF A FAVOR and get some Sure-T's. They don't even MAKE ...

I just started pumping, so I'll tell you why it took me 19 years before deciding to do it. 1. The stigma of being perceived as having a problem and the fact that the pump makes this more visible and obvious 2. The feeling that I was doing "good e...

Neuropathy: an unexpected start...

My blood sugar averages have been ranging from 130-140 for quite a while now. Ever since I started on the CGM, I've seen an increase in the number of BG readings in the "normal" range.

Still, in the past few months I started feeling a discomfort in the sole of my feet. Since I have had relatively acceptable blood sugar control, I assumed that it couldn't be neuropathy. Well, I was wrong. Today I went to to the… Continue

I Never Went to Camp

As a rebellious 12 year old, I never went to diabetes camp. I hated the idea...thought it was kind of dorky at the time.

Whatever.

I sometimes kick myself for not going now that I realize the importance of interaction with other T1's. I wonder if I would have had better control in high school, and a better attitude as a young adult.

Again...whatever.

Tonight I will try to redeem myself as I take a road trip to Arizona to support the fine folks from Triabetes and Insulindependence for the Iro… Continue

And the Answer Is.......

Well, maybe not an answer, but I did get my lab results in the mail! That in and of itself was good news. My endo told me that unless there was something wrong that she needed to discuss with me, I would be getting a letter from her in the mail. Today, I got it and I couldn't be happier.

My HbA1c is............5.5! It translates to an average bg of approximately 112 and is higher than the average bg from my meter, which was 92 (translates to an A1c of 4.8) as of 11/10. I know I didn't test enou… Continue

What in the Wide, Wide World of Sports was Medtronic thinking?

I am increasingly frustrated with my CGMS from Medtronic. Here's why:

#1. Having to turn off the wireless interface between my Onetouch Ultralink meter and my MM 722 pump. The reason? Because the CGMS interprets every single test performed as a calibration reading. Too many calibrations "confuse" the CGMS, resulting in bad readings. That whole last statement really doesn't pass the smell test with me, but anyway.

Why is this frustrating you ask? Here's why: It is one more damn thing I… Continue

The Poor Diabetic

Lessons from world diabetes day

Diabetes Awareness vs Education

Nov the 14th was world diabetes day for those who already do not know and I was not surprised by how much communities and individuals do to commemorate the day. I wish it would have gotten me off work but boss wasn't buying my schtick about it being important to me than thanksgiving and the other holidays.

One of the reason's we celebrate world diabetes day is to raise awareness to the disease and at this point in the journey we cannot deny that diabetes awarene… Continue
