Comment by Manny Hernandez on April 18, 2012 at 5:34pm The three to the left of Aaron Kowalski are Joslin medalists. The one immediately to his right qualifies but hasn't gotten her tests done at Joslin. The last one to the right, I am not sure if she's had diabetes more than 50 years.
I told them I wanted to look at least half as good as they look today in 40 more years (I have had LADA for ten years now, almost)... that is, of course if there's not a cure by then. So I give them TOPS 40 years to find it. I am confident it will be less! :)

Comment by Emily Coles on April 18, 2012 at 9:07am Wow! Truly amazing, and definitely humbling. I don't want to hit my 50 year anniversary, though, because I want a cure before then! The scientific community has 16 years to prevent me from getting my Joslin medal. If it doesn't make it I will very proudly accept that beautiful symbol of determination and fortitude, and then go directly to Washington and stage a protest until someone cures me. Anyone want to join me?

Comment by Marie B on April 15, 2012 at 4:46am are they all 50 year medalists?
