Hey Bill, Like your cabinets too! It matches the blood! LOL. Did you assume that the insulin gushed out with the blood and therefore repumped the correction to bring the high down? I guess that would be a dangerous assumption. Sid

Give something up for World Diabetes Day

Oh yes World Diabetes Day is here!!! November 14th to be exact. It’s not really a holiday I celebrate in with cake and candles. Nor do I celebrate it with my family, over a nice Italian dinner, or with conversation and opening gifts. Too bad, I would really like that.

But I did do something different last year and I thought I would stick to it each year on World Diabetes Day. I am going to give up something for myself… some would say Dietetically Benefit Me!

Last year I gave up Bagels. Yup… I… Continue

Bill, I just started the Dexcom 7 + a few days back. I was having a few issues inserting it (at the beginning). The book was of no help..So, I turned to the internet, where I typed in google, "How to insert Dexcom 7+". Guess who's face popped up? YOURS! Your video helped me through the entire process. So, I wanted to thank you.... THANK YOU!

Glad that you have recovered from you Lousy day and are still smiling. I am looking froward to returning to Boston for a follow-up blood draw with the clinical trial in July. I can't wait to go up to Nantucket, and visit other well-known touristy areas in and out of the city, in the summer time with sailing!!
God Bless,
Brunetta

Oh, you are most welcome! I meant every word of it! I am going to refer my daughter, Ashley Horne, to your page, also. I want her, too, to see that joy in life is possible. She is feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. She just joined tudiabeties which is how I wound up here. She posted a blog on Saturday entitled My Diabetic Toddler which does a good job of reflecting her feelings at the moment. Personally, I think she and her husband have done an amazing job adjusting to Eli's life with diabetes given that he was only dx on Dec. 14th. I am not sure she see what a remarkable job they've done! I love the hope you offer! Thank you!

Hello Bill, thanks for the friend add.

The Glucosurfer business model is founded on donations thus I would like to call it a finance model. By cooperating closely with the Institute for Diabetes Research in Münster we have found a donator for the kick off phase. Our users can allow the Institute to have access to their anonymous data. Because of the anonymity it is scientifically weaker in nature. On the other hand is real life long term data still rare. If the donations will not be sufficient to cover the operational costs then I will jump in with my money. This was the plan from the beginning because we have decided that we will not commercialize the project. Maybe we will allow sponsoring in the future but only money in exchange for kind words and a logo. But it is no necessity in the first place and we do not need to hurry with this decision.

I would say that this project is my big motivator for keeping a diary. Your cozmo can manage the diary data for you (I hope you can export your data) but with MDI you have to manage it manually. This is far more easy with an ordinary cell phone using WAP and the data can be immediately analysed. To have a bolus wizard is a real help with MDI and allows factors you would not normally choose (to avoid complicated mental arithmetics).

Since we have learned to import pump data we are convinced that many pump profiles are slightly inappropriate. They were appropriate in the beginning but then changes like weight gain or different working schedules have happened. By looking at 3 to 4 weeks of data some weaknessess of the profile can be identified. But I will tell you nothing new here. It just surprised me how many of our pumpers are passive about their profile.

Congratulations on your award. Your video response was fun to watch - seems that a good sense of humor is shared by your brother too. A happy new year 2010 to you and your family.
