New glucose testing and insulin dosing coming?

I met a longtime Type 1 diabetic today. He's been battling the disease from birth for a total of 55 years. He was recently informed of a new oral system of checking glucose and administering insulin. Checking sugar would employ licking a test strip and administering insulin would be similar using a similar oral device. His Kaiser endocrinologist told him this at his last appt. Were the 70's too good to this guy or has anyone else heard of this emerging technology? If true,it would certainly…See More

Lantus is working.

Posted on March 31, 2013 at 12:17pm 3 Comments

After dealing with Type II for 13 yrs using pills,Byetta and other means to trick the body, for the last two days I've begun using Lantus. Giving the body what it needs seems to be the way to go at this pt.Stellar results so far. Morning reading was 113 which I haven't seen in yrs. I did get down to 69 at 2:00AM but remedied that with some glucose tablets.

Tonight before bedtime,I'll chug a Glucerna shake that should get me through the night. Glypizide XL is gone now and all I'm taking…

Byetta is working for me!

Posted on August 11, 2012 at 7:48am 0 Comments

After experiencing dawn phenomenon readings averaging 160 forever,I finally talked my doctor into letting me try Byetta. I started July 27th and after experiencing mild headaches and jitteriness for the 1st two weeks, everything has settled in.Zero lows and morning readings of maybe 110 now. Readings after healthy, moderate carb meals are 160 or so,two hrs after which they drop quickly. I've discontinued Januvia, and take 10 mg.Glipizide XL in the morning along with 2500 mg.of Metformin spread…
