Yes, I have mine set to be silent for testing, but I left on the loud "confidence alert" beeps that tell me the bolus has begun delivering. You can set it up however you like.

i don't have the new pdm yet...but what do you all mean by loud? also, can you turn off the beep when you test? i test in my office a lot and my coworker always jokes i'm about to explode. haha

Yes, but that is a good thing. I have tinitus in both ears, and I could barely hear the old model PDM. On a seperate issue, when my Pod alarms, I can't hear it - it seems to be at the same frequency/pitch as the "usual" tone I hear all the time. ...

Women problems and diabetes.....LOVELY.

I have unfortunately had extremely high sugars the past two weeks. I think I have a bacterial infection, fun fun. I have a doc appt this afternoon. I get them all of the time and I get this great rash on my hip with them as well. I do everything that they tell you to do, cotton underwear, no thongs (Thank God) etc..... I am praying that with the pump my sugars will get under control and these infections will stop. I also think the higher sugars coincide with that time of the month. Like the mont… Continue

Good pumping news.....FINALLY, I think.

So it looks like I may be getting my Omnipod system after all. Since I sent in the paperwork today and I think that my insurance will cover it, at worst I will have to appeal to get it done. I hope so. This is of course if I am to believe everything that I have been told by the Insulet, Humana and the Wizard of Oz. Okay, maybe not the Wizard of Oz but sometimes it sure seems like it. Hopefully I will be pumping in no time. Wish me luck, click your heels together three times or something! lol

Crying my eyes out.

So I am at work crying my eyes out because my Cozmo order isn't happening so I decided that I was going to try the Omnipod and of course the Omnipod is NOT covered by my insurance. So here I am upset and pissed off and I pretty much don't care if I get a pump anymore. I hate this. I think the American health care system would rather have me dead than do anything to help. I am angry angry angry and I just want to go to bed and sleep and not deal with a pump again. I hate hate hate hate hate this.

Lucky me.............

I just found out about Smiths Medical discontinuing the Cozmo pump. How great, considering I am in the middle of ordering mine. Now I have to decide whether or not to still order it (probably not) or pick a different pump. We all know how much fun picking a pump is in the first place, so how fun for me right. Back to the drawing board.

The cost of test strips.....UGH!

So our work has new insurance (crappier). If you purchase One Touch Ultra Test Strips through Walmart you getting the whopping $10 discount for having insurance and they run around $90. If you buy without the script they are around $100. If you order them online I found them for $68 but then you can not apply it towards your deductible of $2500. I love the American health care system.

Just wanted to say hi and lucky you that you have the new PDM! I just started mine about a month ago so didn't want to pay already for another one, especially since I just missed the cutoff (April 12th). So far I'm loving it but at first was getting a lot of high readings due to being more liberal in eating and not counting carbs correctly. It's getting better though! Overall I'm happy with it! Hope all is well!

Hey, Wisconsin!:

Sorry to hear your insurance is crappier than the one before. I, fortunately, have much better options. What is this $2500 deductible? Your insurance? You know, if it is only that, you could deduct on taxes. As far as I know, anything medical can be deducted. I do and I have H&R Block do my taxes. But, then again, maybe you should just get them on-line. Save yourself some money. Or, if the $2,500 was insurance, you could get them and the rest of your drugs thru insurance until you meet the deductible and then switch to the mail order for the rest of the year!!!

Whatever, I hope you can work it out to the best of your advantage.
