Who upgrades first: Dexcom or Omnipod?

I keep hearing about the next generation of these systems, but it seems they are always "available very, very soon." Yet, the FDA still seems to be keeping these new tools out of our reach. I know…Continue

My first bleeder.

Had my first bleeder today. I started my bolus for lunch and in the middle of the bolus I got a pod alarm. I went to a small conference room to do a quick pod change. As soon as I pulled the pod off, blood started gushing out of my abdomen. I didn't think it was a big deal at first, but it just wouldn't stop. I ended up bleeding all over my pants and had to use my shirt to stop the bleeding after overwhelming my alcohol pad. Once I got it stopped, I figured it was just time to go home. I didn't…See More

Can anyone provide insight into CIGNA insurance?

Well, I came home tonight to a letter in the mail telling me that my company is dropping AETNA as a health insurance option and switching to CIGNA.After a stint in the hospital with DKA in January, I got serious about taking care of myself and I'm now on OmniPod and Dexcom and have dropped my A1c from over 16 to now under 6.I've been lucky that my OmniPod and Dexcom have both been covered at 100%. I pay for my insulin and that's it. All my pods, sensors, and test strips are covered with no…See More
