Since I've been wearing the sensor, I've noticed that the "dot" it leaves on my abdomen hangs around for a little while. So much so, that I can see multiple dots all over. I want those dots to go…Continue

Dual Wave Newbie!

Started this discussion. Last reply by solobaricsrock Jul 22, 2010. 8 Replies

My APN has just recommended that I use a dual wave for every dinner meal to avoid post prandial spikes. I started using a 50:50 over 3 hours. That didn't work, so now she has suggested 40:60 over 3…Continue

The Feel Good Doctor

Posted on October 26, 2010 at 6:30pm 5 Comments

I got a call from my doc today to review my most recent blood sugars that I had uploaded and amongst all of our conversation back and forth she managed to give a little praise...

me: I have a complaint from a type 1, I'm getting low too often and as a result, fat, I've gained five pounds from all of the sugar I've been consuming, can we do…

Fat

Posted on October 16, 2010 at 7:07pm 23 Comments

I've finally come to terms with fat. Eating it that is. When I was first diagnosed the plan was to follow the standard ADA pyramid diet with the majority of calories at the bottom of the pyramid coming from breads and grains and the least at the top from fat and sweets. Saturated fat was as bad for you as inhaling uranium and to be avoided at all costs. Margarine or low fat butter(an oxymoron if I ever heard one) was highly…

Wine or Yoga? What Would You Choose?

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 10:22am 3 Comments

This is the dilemma that I am often faced with: exercise or something else. In this case, it happens to be a glass of red wine. The day has been long and less than desirable and more than anything I want my thoughts to disappear for awhile, to decompress. I can achieve this by attending an hour long session of yoga. I like the instructor and if I attended the class I know that I would be satisfied when I completed it. I would walk home with my shoulders back and chest lifted a little. I…

How Low Can You Go?

Posted on September 10, 2010 at 8:13am 5 Comments

I just ran into a T1 friend while walking my pup and it has inspired me to write a blog post. He had just started on a dexcom and I cheered for him. It started me thinking about the beginning of my summer, so I thought I would let ya'll know how I got my A1C from 7.0 to 6.0 in a little over 3 months. Not in a I-know-it-all way, but in a this-is-what-worked-for-me-maybe-it-will-work-for-you way. These are the top 10 things that made a difference.…

Hi Abbey,

Express Tu Diabetes works as a profile page, so to post your image simply add it as a comment. It is late for the draw of the poetry books but please share your artwork with the group. Also, consider adding Express You Diabetes, to your friends list so we can keep in touch with you when we launch a new initiative.

Thanks! I wish I could go...I actually live outside of Chicago about an hour and a half and have school early Thurs morning. If the meetings were on a Saturday night I would be able to go into the city. Maybe someday! :)

Yes, will def need some advice! Have you had any babies yet or planning soon? How's it going for you? My A1C is nowhere where it should be--so probably going to be a little while before I can plan on kids :(
