Keeping Hub in place

Hi All. I joined this group in hoping for some help. I don't have diabetes myself but I have a husband who is T1 and a 6 year old son who was diagnosed May 31. He started pumping August 30, he uses the Sure-T infusion set. Does anyone else have any trouble with the hub for a Sure-T set staying put? We don't have a problem with the site itself because we put a clear IV dressing over the site but we can't do that for the hub. We have tried cleaning the area with an alcohol pad, an IV prep alcohol…See More

Hub staying put

Does anyone else have any trouble with the hub for a Sure-T set staying put? We don't have a problem with the site itself because we put a clear IV dressing over the site but we can't do that for the hub. We have tried cleaning the area with an alcohol pad, an IV prep alcohol pad, cutting a hole in the center of the IV dressing that we use on the site. I talked to the education nurse we work with and she suggested getting some spray on antiperspirant but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have…See More

Going to the movies

We are headed to the movies today, something we haven't done since our son was diagnosed, and I am a little worried about when to bolus. If my son decides to have a snack (which I am sure he will) he usually gets a box of candy but then doesn't usually eat all of it and it takes the whole movie for him to eat what he does so do I just wait until we leave to bolus after the movie to make sure he doesn't go too low during the movie? I feel like this isn't something that I should be so worried…See More

We made it!

Well we made the switch without (so far) very many issues. Alex and I went for pump training on Thursday (August 30). My husband was out of town so just the two of us went but he said it was mostly for the two of us anyway because he already knows all about it from his. Alex and I were talking the night before and as we were headed to the Dr and decided that we were both excited yet a little nervous. It went better then we both expected and aside from my husband and I being a little tired…

May 31, 2012 will be a day that I will remember for the rest of my life. That was the day that our son, Alex, was diagnosed with T1. I am still having a rush of emotions over all of it. I do fine until I sit and think about it and then I get that out of control feeling and my mind goes crazy with thoughts. My husband is a T1 also, diagnosed when he was 6 also, the only one in his fanily with it, we have been told by several Doctors that since he was the only one that he wouldn't pass it on…
