Hockey Mom replied to Allie's discussion 'Cooperstown baseball tournament' in the group parents of kids with Type 1
"Both of my neighbor's boys went at age 12 but they are not diabetic. But she is a good source of information if you have specific questions. Two obvious things to check into are: - They have 24 hour Medical Care Onsite: Can they help in any way…"

Cooperstown baseball tournament

Has anyone tried to send their son to the 12u baseball tournament in Cooperstown? My son's team is headed there in August 2014 and his coach has a lot of concerns regarding his Diabetes. He said that the team is required to stay in the "barracks" with two coaches, and seem to have very little contact with anyone outside the coaches and other teams. All meals are eaten together in a dining hall with players and coaches only at prescheduled times. My son is very mature and responsible but far…See More

Allie replied to rivey's discussion 'Does your Confirm button move?' in the group OmniPod Users
"Yes, it definitely moves! I didn't notice it for the first few months, but my 11 year old confirmed it for me. Not sure why. It doesn't make me pay attention anymore, it just forces me to use a flashlight at night or whenever we think it…"

Allie commented on Mathew's group 'OmniPod Users'
"Not only do we not have new pods, but when I called on Monday, they told me they just put a hold (that day) on shipment of all new pods. We're supposed to get our next shipment in a month and I called just to make sure they would be new ones as…"

Allie replied to David S's discussion 'It was bound to happen...' in the group OmniPod Users
"When my 10 year old switched from a tubed pump to Omnipod a year ago, we bought a back-up PDM. They had a special program running that allowed us to purchase it for $200 because we were switching from a tubed pump. I called Insulet last week to find…"

Allie replied to Cocheze's discussion 'Do you ever need to take it off?' in the group OmniPod Users
"My son does karate/sparring, baseball and basketball with it on and has very rarely had a problem. He wears it on his upper buttocks or lower back for most sports. It came off once when he slid during baseball so now we use his non-sliding side…"

Allie replied to Brooklyn's discussion 'Extended Bolus Set-up' in the group OmniPod Users

Allie replied to tebbemae's discussion 'Omnipod IOB Calculations' in the group OmniPod Users
"In the IOB calculation, the pod is different from the other pumps. The pod only uses boluses that were given for high blood sugar to calculate IOB, not boluses given for food/carbs. So in your example if the 2.3 units were given to correct a high BS…"

Allie commented on Mathew's group 'OmniPod Users'
"Again, the scenario I described does NOT involve saving and reusing a syringe/insulin 3 days later. I do not think that is a good idea."

Allie commented on Mathew's group 'OmniPod Users'
"It's not that we reuse the syringes over and over. I think what Kati is saying is that sometimes when you fill a syringe with insulin and attempt to fill a pod, the insulin just won't go in. No amount of pressure on the syringe will allow…"
