Allie replied to David S's discussion 'It was bound to happen...' in the group OmniPod Users
"When my 10 year old switched from a tubed pump to Omnipod a year ago, we bought a back-up PDM. They had a special program running that allowed us to purchase it for $200 because we were switching from a tubed pump. I called Insulet last week to find…"

Allie replied to Cocheze's discussion 'Do you ever need to take it off?' in the group OmniPod Users
"My son does karate/sparring, baseball and basketball with it on and has very rarely had a problem. He wears it on his upper buttocks or lower back for most sports. It came off once when he slid during baseball so now we use his non-sliding side…"

Allie replied to Brooklyn's discussion 'Extended Bolus Set-up' in the group OmniPod Users
"You should see the option for an extended bolus after you've selected "Bolus" and entered the number of carbs you're eating. At the bottom there are choices for either "deliver" or "extend." When you choose…"

Allie replied to tebbemae's discussion 'Omnipod IOB Calculations' in the group OmniPod Users
"In the IOB calculation, the pod is different from the other pumps. The pod only uses boluses that were given for high blood sugar to calculate IOB, not boluses given for food/carbs. So in your example if the 2.3 units were given to correct a high BS…"

Allie commented on Mathew's group 'OmniPod Users'
"Again, the scenario I described does NOT involve saving and reusing a syringe/insulin 3 days later. I do not think that is a good idea."

Allie commented on Mathew's group 'OmniPod Users'
"It's not that we reuse the syringes over and over. I think what Kati is saying is that sometimes when you fill a syringe with insulin and attempt to fill a pod, the insulin just won't go in. No amount of pressure on the syringe will allow…"

Jim replied to Allie's discussion 'Recent problems filling pods' in the group OmniPod Users
"I've had some that I've had to press the plunger pretty hard, but it has never stopped me from filling a pod. I've never tried to reposition the needle because I have always eventually gotting the pod to load. As far as I know,…"

shzowie replied to Allie's discussion 'Recent problems filling pods' in the group OmniPod Users
"we've had the occasional one be hard to fill, but just usually I'll pull the syringe out and reinsert and it injects easily with out resistance. I've had some weird non beepers lately but they've always replaced them."

Kate replied to Allie's discussion 'Recent problems filling pods' in the group OmniPod Users
"I just had this happen. Every pod change I was burning through 2 or 3 pods trying to find one that would fill. I called CS with each pod change and they replaced each one. The 3rd time, I told the rep that this was a little ridiculous. He looked at…"

Sherry Ann replied to Allie's discussion 'Recent problems filling pods' in the group OmniPod Users

Jaybear replied to Allie's discussion 'Recent problems filling pods' in the group OmniPod Users
"You're not crazy. I have noticed this as a recent problem in the last few months. I just call Insulet every time to let them know there is an issue, and the pods are replaced."

Jim Murray replied to Allie's discussion 'Recent problems filling pods' in the group OmniPod Users
"I just had the same exact problem, I tried to force it, and pulled it out and stuck it back in a few times, but it wouldn't work. Sometimes you can't push the plunger too smoothly, but this was different."

Jgos replied to Allie's discussion 'Recent problems filling pods' in the group OmniPod Users
"I have had the same problem. I would suggest not using the ones that don't activate. I had an error rate of 20% on the 30 that I get sent. I suggested that I should just have them replaced. That didn't go down to well. However the next…"
