Oh ok, thank you! Yeah I am usually back to normal within 2-3 hours. I didn't realize that was normal, that makes me feel better.

You can pre-bolus to avoid as high of a spike, but I have no honestly been able to eliminate it completely, even wearing a CGMS.

I think thats pretty normal. As long as your back down to your target within 2 - 3 hours your doing good. If your always doing a correction after 3 hours then you might have a problem

Hi Amanda, Okay, it sounds like you're bolusing about 20 minutes before eating? If you're cking your b/g at an hour after eating, my understanding is that a b/g in the 200-ish range is acceptable. Your target is the 2 hour time period, when your ...

I'm a little confused. So a lot of the time (not everytime) after eating a meal my blood sugar will skyrocket to the 200's (hr or so later when I check my blood), but when i go to correct my BG, those units are already on board so I do not need to...

Hi Rose! I know how you feel. I was opposed to getting the pump for years. I was also scared of how it would look on me, what others would think when they saw it and what it was going to be like being attached to something. I have the pump now an...

No I don't write it down, but I know I really should! I need to get on top of that!

Do you write your BG down somewhere? i find that I really only get a clear picture if I write them down and what I ate when I am not sure about what is going on. I am also new at the pump and during the first week I was on insulin I was doing my b...

Hey Amanda, Also keep in mind, that some foods are way slower to digest, like pasta/rice, or meals with a higher fat content. For foods like these, it is helpful to use an extended bolus over a few hours, to avoid the chance of all the insulin wor...

Ok thanks everyone! I'm new to this, so I had no idea. I tend to get low at night so maybe I'll try adjusting my carb ratio 1: 10 g and see if my blood sugar stays more stable. I already have my basal rates set differently throughout the day and t...

I agree with Susi- Depending on the time of day, your needs are likely to be very different. For example, I tend to need the most insulin in the morning, even though this isn't the time of day that I eat the most carbs. In the afternoon, I am sup...

Thanks Amanda. I find it more helpful talking to users instead of sales reps. Still undecided between the Ping and Omnipod. My endo is non commital other than saying I should choose which ever one feels right because of my 24/7 life with it. Thanks again.

Hi Amanda, I have 2 questions. I feel stupid for asking but how do you sleep with the Ping? I have very little on especially when it's hot as you know can be miserable in VA. and me (a guy), getting up at night to go to the bathroom, what would I do with it...the Ping I mean. I don't think I want to disconnect and connect during the night. Thanks for any reply.

Have a great day

Thanks for the idea. I will call them tomorrow morning before I go to the endo. Right now, BS is 69 which is very low for me, or I would try now. I will let you know what I decided. Thanks again for your input.

I am really trying to figure this out. It has come down to the Ping and the Omnipod. Did you go thru a lot of agony with your decision? I meet with my endo on Monday and we will discuss, but the final decision will have to be mine.......and the insurance company. :]

Hey Amanda - welcome to Tu Diabetes - and even better - welcome to the Animas world of pumping insulin (I just started pumping last year after 40 years of being a human pincushion ). BTW, does your dog know when you are going low? Some people say their dogs/cats know when they are going low. I have cats, they don't say anything - except when I have to go to the kitchen in the middle of the night for some OJ for the occassional hypo - and then they meow - of course - they are saying "Feed Me I'm Am Starving Over Here". Take care - and good luck with the job hunt.

Your dog is adorable =]
I don't blame you for not wanting to work out. I find the gyms to be intimidating lol. I find that walking brings my bg down a lot. I actually have to be real careful or I'll go low.

I just kept my bg monitered and as soon as I see it go high or low, I correct it quickly. I tried going on a low carb diet, but didnt work so well. So now I just try to eat more salads instead of other foods I probably shouldn't be eating. And I've just started taking walks.
Do you do any kind of exercise or diet?
