Hi Amanda
I live just across the river in Pekin. I am using the Omnipod and Dexcom Seven system. Drop me a email and we can get our clans together for a diabetic dinner.

I live in Illinois too. Oak Park, IL next to Chicago. It's great that you're part of our family.

I've had blood sugars in the 20's and 30's........ It's not a pretty thing but I've been able to walk around. I just get kind of "loopy".

I read about your doctor. I met a stupid doctor in my life and he never heard me, never listened to me. I told him (he was an Endo) that when I put 2 more units of insulin, i've got lows; His answer was: 1 unit is not enough. I was 25. I met him 4 times and then I forgot his address. I changed and return to my family's doctor who listened to me.

Amanda, I am lucky that my pancreas still makes some insulin so I do not suffer from wild BG swings. 2 years ago things were quite different.

hello again. I have some complications because I've started my type 1 in the prehistoric age! Maybe I did mistakes but I didn't know. So : retinopathy (two eyes , many laser) and an open heart surgery in 2003. that's all for now. And I'm well. I was very very alone in all my teens, I never met another child with diabetes. And after it was the same. It's hard. Were you a kid when you started your type 1?

I really LOVE the Omnipod but I have never used a traditional pump. I injected for a month and made an immediate decision to use a pump and I researched the Omnipod and here I am almost 7 months later.
