Amy replied to Michael Nelson's discussion 'Perscription hell'
"I've always been told that I would ideally have both an endo and a PCP, though for much of my life the only doctor I went to with any regularity was my endo. Diabetes aside, I've never really had a need for a PCP and my endos have always…"

Amy replied to kphil06's discussion 'Loss of speech'
"This happens to me when I have migraines. Enough to where I thought it may be seizures, but I was told that's just the way it is. My favorite story is from when I was 15 or 16 and I couldn't verbalize "I have a migraine." And I…"

Amy replied to guitarnut's discussion 'Endo Nerves'
"I freak out, too. I always figured it was left over from my teenage/college years when my visits were few and far between and therefore more nerve inducing. Without fail, though, I always panic and want to cancel my appointment the day or so before…"

Amy replied to dishers's discussion 'Test strips where do you dispose of them?'
"I stick them in the velcro compartment of my meter. When it fills up I throw them away. Sometimes this leads to really unfortunate used test strip avalanches, but I've never been able to stick to another routine. Clearly the avalanches…"

Amy commented on Jen's blog post 'Me as of late'
"I had to cut Chinese food out of my diet, too... It would keep me at 400 for days and I never could figure it out. :("

Amy replied to Dave's discussion 'I admit it: I treat based on my G4 CGM alone'
"Normally I'm with you on not letting endo's intimidate you...but in this case she was willing to write me a prescription for the strips and fight my insurance to get them...so I'll stick myself a few more times a day :p"

Amy replied to Dave's discussion 'I admit it: I treat based on my G4 CGM alone'
"I used to do it a lot more than I do now. The only reason I stopped is I changed endos and she scolded me for taking insulin without doing a fingerstick first (My pump told on my :() I still regularly treat lows with it and I have few problems. :)"

Amy replied to Jen's discussion 'When do you tell someone?'
"Hm... That's tricky. I usually mention possible disasters when I have that "ooh noo" moment. In the case above, if I test at an unexpected 38 I mention it if for nothing else than explaining any weird things I may do (like stuffing my…"

Amy replied to Sportster's discussion 'Hungry'
"I was on Symlin for maybe 4 months? I don't remember it helping with the hunger specifically, but I do remember not wanting to eat anything because it made me horribly nauseous."

Amy replied to Sportster's discussion 'Hungry'
"I've almost always had this feeling (I once ate raspberries literally to the point of being sick because I'm always hungry). I've actually found that fruit makes it worse, so when I eat fruit (which is quite a lot) I try and make sure…"

"1.How many years have you had type 1 diabetes? almost 14 years 2.Have you ever been in DKA? yup, at diagnosis. What was your highest blood glucose? No idea. I think my mom said somewhere in the 800s. Since then, probably in the 500s (I had a few…"

Amy replied to Jen's discussion 'Precise or imprecise - does it bother you?'
"Sooo since we're being precise and all...mayo doesn't have milk in it :P But yes. As both a diabetic and someone who suffers from really intense migraines, I really hate it. I find that when everyone starts talking about having "low…"
