I just joined this community recently too, but I don't know what I would do without a small community of other moms that I have gotten to know that also have kids with T1. This can be such an overwelming disease for both the child and the parent. We have good days and bad days. Some days I think I have a handle on it and other days I want to lay down and cry. That is normal, I think.

Anyway, I just know how your sister feels and my heart just aches for her. It will get better and honestly the pump makes things so much better in the long run, but initially it is tough, especially if the child is not completely happy with the situation.

If your sister wants to get in touch with me she is more than welcome to find me here or maybe facebook. If nothing else, I can assure her that she is not alone.

There is another nice new community called Juvenation.org and it was created by JDRF. I am hyper involved volunteering with JDRF and while I know that is not for everyone, it has been a great way to meet other people that live with this disease and Boston has an amazing chapter! Our first walk was in Boston and it is around the Charles which is AWESOME.

Send my best to your sister.

I just read your post in families with multiple....I have two kids on the pump so if your sister or you need anyone to talk to I would happy to. The transition can be hard, but once you get the hang of it the pump is amazing.

Hi Amy! I just saw your post on my wall. I am so glad that you liked the video so much! I noticed that you are from Salem. My mom is from Beverly and my husband and I lived in Franklin for 5 years!! Welcome to Tudiabetes. I just joined for the same reason as you, hoping to connect with others that live with this disease every day.
