Happy New Year everyone.

I want to start off by saying that I am so glad I found this community. I haven't been totally horrible but I was letting myself slide as far as taking care of myself. Now mind you, I work out five times a week and try to eat as good as I can but other things were escaping me like testing, taking my meds, regular visits to the Endo. I think most of the time I am scared of what Im going to hear. But 09 is going to be a different and better year.

I know this because just last night, I got to visit with a friend of mine I haven't seen in 20 years. And I found out she is a type 2 as well. It was definitely a great start seeing her and meeting her husband and sons.

SO to all my new friends here and old ones out in my "real" life, here is to an amazing 2009 for all of us!

Time marches on....

Yikes, it's almost been a year since I've posted here. Sigh.... Where does the time go. I was doing pretty good until April of 2010. That's when my dad went into the hospital (for some relatively minor stuff in the grand scheme of things) but because he is not an active man anyways he went on to go to a rehab center for about 6 weeks. Now I live with him and have become his care taker. Well, we know what happens then. We stop taking care of ourselves. Now, about 6 months later, I'm a little… Continue

Wow, I can't believe I haven't posted here in so long! But well, I guess sometimes life gets in the way. I have been doing well. Trying very hard to take care of myself and I think I'm doing much better than I have been. I've lost 40 pounds this year and loads of inches. I'm still going to the gym 5 days a week. Well, maybe I've been slacking a little since it's the end of the year but I'm still going. I'm really proud of myself for being so good at work and avoiding all the holiday temptations… Continue

Another week down. Today marks a month since I have been eating Gluten free. I got on the scale this morning at the gym before spin class and I was down another 4 pounds (WOOHOO!) But I don't see that as accurate because I had on my spinning shoes AND I'm a little bloated from that monthly thing but regardless I am still super excited. This makes 15 pounds for the month. I have an appointment today with my acupuncturist so I am very happy to share the news with him. Another benefit, my skin has… Continue

Update 2/4/09

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a good 2009 so far. I can't believe it is February already! Time sure flies.

I have completed 3 weeks of my gluten free way of eating and so far have lost 10 pounds! I am so excited over this you have no idea. It really makes me thing I am finally accomplishing something. For months and months I've been working so hard in the gym and trying to eat right (so I thought) and people were exclaiming "wow, you have lost so much weight!" and really I… Continue

So excited!

Went to the gym this morning (as usual) got set up for spinning and then went out and got on the scale. I had to triple check to make sure I was seeing right. I lost four pounds!!!! You would have though I had just won the Biggest Loser with how ecstatic I was inside. After 6 months of nothing, finally SOMETHING! There may be something to this gluten free way of eating after all. Yay, me!
