Andrea who?

I have 2 boys who keep me on my toes (8 and 2) a wonderful family and a best friend who loves me to pieces. I like to spend time with all of them, read, crochet and most of all shop (especially for shoes!). I love to volunteer with the American Diabetes Association and usually have a team for the annual Step Out to Fight Diabetes (hence the name Sticky Sweet Diabetics). I am currently trying to shake things up and get people talking about diabetes (and better yet get people to get tested) here in Kansas City. So if your in the area and willing to meet up contact me.

A month later...

WOW! I can't believe that I haven't been on here in over a month. Where has the time gone? I can only say that I have been really busy doing a whole lot of ....NOTHING! Well not totally nothing but not that much that I couldn't have dropped a few new friends a line or posted something on my blog.

I've spent some of my time making ribbons for my diabetes awareness campaign, shopping for Christmas presents and well...falling… Continue

World Diabetes Day....2 days later

Posted on November 16, 2008 at 12:55pm 0 Comments

On Friday I proudly wore blue pants and a blue shirt to represent World Diabetes Day. I also sent my son to school in a blue long sleeve shirt with blue jeans. It was a wonderful day for me. At noon I attended a diabetes luncheon that was hosted by the Samuel U Rodgers Health Center. Cherise over at DiabeticizMe invited me after my status on facebook read "I'm disapointed with the lack of support in Kansas City about diabetes". Her mom (Nina… Continue

So quiet

Posted on November 6, 2008 at 6:58am 1 Comment

As you all know it's Diabetes Awareness month and Kansas City is as quiet as the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse. Sorry I have thoughts of Christmas dancing around on my brain.

Anyway, I'm going to the American Diabetes Association office tonight for a recap meeting on the Step Out walk we had in September. I plan on bringing up the question of why they are not having any events this month. I'm hoping they will say "No… Continue

My dilemma

Posted on October 23, 2008 at 3:30pm 5 Comments

A couple of months ago I found out I have to switch endocrinologists due to my current insurance dropping that hospital and network of doctors, ugh! I have to admit I am not a big fan of going to the endo mostly because it often feels like I'm being criticized. And who likes criticism? No matter how contructive it is. But this doctor has a totally different approach which I find so refreshing. He takes his time to explain things to me, asks my opinion and actually writes down what he wants me… Continue

And sometimes today turns into tomorrow...

Posted on October 16, 2008 at 3:00pm 6 Comments

You all know what I mean. If you unrolled your list of things to do today they would roll out the door, wrap around the corner and up the street. Something has to be moved to the next day but what? My issue is rearranging my to do list so I can complete the most important tasks first. I think it's because they are all important to me but here lately not much is getting checked off the to do list. One of things that has not been getting done (and I am ashamed to admit it) is keeping my… Continue

Pitchers Lounge10800 Metcalf Ave, (Overland Park Marriott Hotel), Overland Park, KS
This popular, inexpensive restaurant is a sports lover's heaven. Locals find it a great place to get together, have a drink, enjoy a meal and unwind. Located in the Overland Park Marriott, just 20 minutes from downtown, it is worth a short drive for the sporty atmosphere and good food.
Diners can choose from an array of menu items, including pizza, salads, burgers, ribs, steak sandwiches and grilled chicken sandwiches. For those with an appetite, Key Lime Pie, apple cobbler and sundaes top off the meal.

hope to see you there..
