Hi. I see Dr. Bressler in Dallas as my endocrinologist who is wonderful. For my pregnancy, I saw a maternal-fetal specialist at UTSW (Julie Lo, MD). She was wonderful and I have only great things to say about her. She doesn't manage diabetes in yo...

I've been frustrated lately, too. I don't know why, but sometimes I just wish someone would hear us loud and clear. It's the invisible disease that people don't see as serious because there's TREATMENT. And like you said, nothing again people with...

I had a couple of boxes of the recalled infusion sets and didn't have any problems with them. If anything, I was going low, not high, but I don't have problems feeling lows, so I just kept using them.

Okay. I have my regular 3 month appointment with my endo at the end of the month. I've been right at a 6 with my a1c for over a year, so I SHOULD be okay in that area. I just have no idea what I'm doing and I'm tired of people treating me like I'm...

No, I called the OB at 6 weeks and they said they would see me between weeks 8 and 10. My appt was during week 9. My endo released me to start trying to conceive once my A1c was below 6.5. During my pregnancy, the endo, OB, perinatologist, and CD...

OH, I had another quick question...did you go to her after you were actually pregnant, or before?? I'm wondering when I need to make an appointment when I DO find a doctor.

Thank you so much! Every time I try to talk to my endo about pregnancy she kind of avoids the topic. I'm a little nervous staying with her while being pregnant if she doesn't want to talk about it before I'm even pregnant. Thanks again!

Hi, I was just looking up some info on the pump. Why did you decide to go with the minimed? My endo wants me on the minimed as well, but I see a lot of other people with other pumps out there. What so you like about it or don’t?

Just updating...

Unfortunately my Grandaddy passed away on August 13th at 1:30am. He went very peacefully and very happy and he's in a better place now, it's just very hard to except yet. I still keep thinking that someone is going to call me and say, JUUUST kidding. All of my cousins were able to be there except for one. He was stuck in Africa doing some field study or something for his doctorate and couldn't leave. He did get the chance to spend last week with our other cousin and visit with my family. I was s… Continue

REALLY tired of insurance companies......as I'm sure we all are....

So this past year has been really hard on me as a person in general. Last November I started a job that I thought was going to be great but ended up nearly killing me because my boss didn't care that I was diabetic. I finally got out of that job at the beginning of April and since then I feel like my life hasn't stopped.

I still haven't been able to get a job...not because of the diabetes, but because of everything else in my life that's going on. First I had to travel to South Carolina at the… Continue

WOOHOO!!!

So, I just got back from an endo, and I'm really excited!! My A1c was 7.2, which is a little high, but not nearly as high as it was a year ago when it was tested. I went to a Diabetes America place and it was awesome. The team there was great and I had no problem with them whatsoever. They were young too so I didn't feel like they didn't really know about type 1 or young people like I did the last time I went to an endo. They understood, and encouraged me, to change my insulin how I saw fit. The… Continue

15 years...

Well, today is the anniversary of being diagnosed. This time 15 years ago I was in the hospital, still not really sure what diabetes was. But I knew I had been feeling bad, and hooked up to an IV, I was on my way to feeling better, gaining weight (I weighed 45lbs when I checked into the hospital at age 8) and learning how my life was forever changed.

I remember alot from that day. I remember going to a family doctor, who didn't want to diagnose me so he wasn't going to, and my fasting blood sug… Continue

Kinda tired...

I'm kind of getting tired of being diabetic. I go through it at points in my life, and I'm in that low right now. It just bothers me that I don't feel good, and it's pretty much because of the diabetes. This morning I couldn't get my sugar to come up. Over a 3 hour period it wouldn't get above 60, no matter how much I ate or how much juice I drank. It drained me for the whole afternoon. It sucked and I hate it so much. I was diagnosed when I was 8 (25 days away from being 9) so I don't really re… Continue
