"My insulin needs definitely decreased as soon I got into active labor. After all, labor is really physically taxing. Frequent testing will keep you on top of what's going on. You may want to ask, just so you'll know what to expect, whether…"

"Relax!! I was super nervous too. I was induced at 38.5 weeks, I was left on my pump and allowed to monitor my own glucose levels. I was checking my bg every hour or so. Once contractions really started I dropped my basal to about 50% perhaps lower…"

"I was induced as well. L&D went well - I kept my bg between 60 and 85 the entire time. I did not have to tinker with my basal rates at that point. Afterward, someone from my endo's office stopped by my room and gave me pointers for lowering…"

"How exciting! Don't worry too much, with L&D I was left on my pump and handled that fine...as long as you have a good endo that knows what to do. Through breastfeeding I definitely crashed every time I nursed for the first few months...so I…"

Unfortunately my Grandaddy passed away on August 13th at 1:30am. He went very peacefully and very happy and he's in a better place now, it's just very hard to except yet. I still keep thinking that someone is going to call me and say, JUUUST kidding. All of my cousins were able to be there except for one. He was stuck in Africa doing some field study or something for his doctorate and couldn't leave. He did get the chance to spend last week with our other cousin and visit with my family. I was… Continue

So this past year has been really hard on me as a person in general. Last November I started a job that I thought was going to be great but ended up nearly killing me because my boss didn't care that I was diabetic. I finally got out of that job at the beginning of April and since then I feel like my life hasn't stopped.

I still haven't been able to get a job...not because of the diabetes, but because of everything else in my life that's going on. First I had to travel to South… Continue

So, I just got back from an endo, and I'm really excited!! My A1c was 7.2, which is a little high, but not nearly as high as it was a year ago when it was tested. I went to a Diabetes America place and it was awesome. The team there was great and I had no problem with them whatsoever. They were young too so I didn't feel like they didn't really know about type 1 or young people like I did the last time I went to an endo. They understood, and encouraged me, to change my insulin how I saw fit.… Continue

15 years...

Well, today is the anniversary of being diagnosed. This time 15 years ago I was in the hospital, still not really sure what diabetes was. But I knew I had been feeling bad, and hooked up to an IV, I was on my way to feeling better, gaining weight (I weighed 45lbs when I checked into the hospital at age 8) and learning how my life was forever changed.

I remember alot from that day. I remember going to a family doctor, who didn't want to diagnose me so he wasn't going to, and my… Continue

Kinda tired...

I'm kind of getting tired of being diabetic. I go through it at points in my life, and I'm in that low right now. It just bothers me that I don't feel good, and it's pretty much because of the diabetes. This morning I couldn't get my sugar to come up. Over a 3 hour period it wouldn't get above 60, no matter how much I ate or how much juice I drank. It drained me for the whole afternoon. It sucked and I hate it so much. I was diagnosed when I was 8 (25 days away from being 9) so I don't really… Continue
