He is a smart 10 year old boy.. thank you for sharing a little about him with us. I am sure you are a great inspiration to him (if not yet you will be when he gets a little older) in the Diabetes sense. I thought we were diabetic twins?..hmm

I hope my grandkids are that smart at 10 and like do some housecleaning too. My almost 5 year old grandson went without being told to the dryer and took out the clothes and put them on the sofa to be folded. If only he could fold them. LOL

That is good, maybe he can come down and teach my cardiologist something about BG control. Sounds like your WIDA folks learned from our ADA in the US, another group that needs to pull their head out of where the sun don't shine.

When a 10 year old knows as much about carb counting as you do - it's simply AMAZING!

On the weekend in Ottawa, I met up with Catherine, our god daughter and her son Aaron. It was a short visit, as we were doing the rounds on visiting our families, something we don't do that often, even though Ottawa is only a 2 hour drive. Weekends are precious for us working stiffs, so getting away can be difficult as I'm sure you all can relate to.

Anyway, I think the… Continue

Freak Out - c'est chic

Okay - first - get this tune up and running in your head (Freak Out) - and you'll then be able to read my dribbles - which I'm able to produce despite having BG's between 2.7 mmol/l - 4 mmol/l - ALL THE FRIGGIN' TIME!!! Going to sleep last night, after eating like it was going out of style, without bolusing, I managed… Continue

Basal Testing Day - D Minus

After experiencing some wacky daytime blood sugars (BG's) during the last week, I decided to go ahead and test out my basal settings on my Animas 2020 insulin pump today. I have never a daytime basal testing before, sad to say, and as in my prevous blog, I had asked others - "how often do you test your basal rates?". No comments yet, and it makes me wonder, are they like mysel… Continue

Stress, Stress and more Stress

My blood sugars the last few days have been abit wacky in the morning as well into the afternoon.. I reached a high of 20 mmol/l the other day, something that occurs once in a blue moon for me, even when I was on multiple doseage injections (MDI). It was to the point where I wanted to chuck out the insulin pump the other day and go back to 8-10 injections a day! Then I thought, hang i… Continue

Wish you were all here my Tufriends - IDF Diabetes World Congress in Montreal - 13,000 attendees so far - AMAZING!!!

Well, I am very fortunate this week to be attending the congress here in Montreal. Luckily I was able to get a volunteer position with IDF and I am having such an amazing time! So much so, that I'm not looking forward to seeing this all end on Thursday as I've never felt so connected to people that know what diabetes is all about. It's truly an amazing experience for me, and something I doubt I will ever forget (anyone want to sponsor me for the 2011 IDF Diabetes World Congress taking place in D… Continue

Hi Anna! Thanks for the friend add. I can't wait to see the video you posted, but (annoying) work server doesn't let me access youtube. I'll have to wait until I get home later. In the meantime, I'm going to check out your blog!

Dear Anna;

I can offer you to come and stay in my Villa during your stay. Would love to go to the event as well. Who is organizing it? Emirates Airlines has good rates from the States and is a great Airline as well.

It's only when I join the forum that I learnt about the pump. Perhaps because I am T2 my endo didn't think that I'll ever need it. I'm on oral med and insulin. My bg is getting progressively worse over the years. My pancreas must be dying. If I can go on the pump, I'll jump at it. It sounds so easy. It is going to be expensive though. Medical here is very expensive here and diabetic care is not covered by insurance. Subsidized medical care is sub-standard. My friends on subsidized care don't even get their a1c checked regularly. Just fasting sugar check during their regular visits and they are sent home with pills and insulin - whatever the doctor think they need. My endo ,on the other hand, will demand to see my log on my daily bg and make suggestions on how to bring it down and check my a1c 3 months every time I change my regime.
Is that you on a motorbike with a red jacket? Wow, so cool. You really live life to the fullest. I've always wanted a Vespa. Love it when I was a teenager but my parents forbid it.
