Hey Annette...how's it all going? I know that you don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the U.K., but I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your friendship, and for the support you shown toward others here in our tudiabetes family.
Luv.....linda.

This one is sure to bring a smile to your face ....linda.

Three Ladies in a Sauna.......

THREE WOMEN, TWO YOUNGER, AND ONE SENIOR CITIZEN, WERE SITTING NAKED IN A SAUNA.

SUDDENLY THERE WAS A BEEPING SOUND. THE YOUNG WOMAN PRESSED HER FOREARM AND THE
BEEP STOPPED.

THE OTHERS LOOKED AT HER QUESTIONINGLY. 'THAT WAS MY PAGER,' SHE SAID. I HAVE A MICROCHIP UNDER THE SKIN OF MY ARM..

A FEW MINUTES LATER, A PHONE RANG. THE SECOND YOUNG WOMAN LIFTED HER PALM TO HER EAR.

WHEN SHE FINISHED, SHE EXPLAINED, 'THAT WAS MY MOBILE PHONE. I HAVE A
MICROCHIP IN MY HAND.'

THE OLDER WOMAN FELT VERY LOW -TECH. NOT TO BE OUT DONE, SHE DECIDED SHE
HAD TO DO SOMETHING JUST AS IMPRESSIVE. SHE STEPPED OUT OF THE SAUNA AND WENT
TO THE BATHROOM.

SHE RETURNED WITH A PIECE OF TOILET PAPER HANGING FROM HER REAR END.

THE OTHERS RAISED THEIR EYEBROWS AND STARED AT HER.

THE OLDER WOMAN FINALLY SAID.........WELL, WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT....I'M GETTING A
FAX!!

When you stop laughing, send this to those who will appreciate it.

HAPPY MOMMY'S DAY ANNETTE!

An Awesome Mom.....

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .

Hi Annnette....nice to hear from you...I too love being with children. I've been involved with children in one capacity or other since I was a teenager....and as far as keeping me on my toes....you've got THAT right!

Annette, thank you so much for your kind remarks. We are kindred spirits, I think. I know that when I am helping someone else, I get more than I give. I am also involved with Quilts of Valor - a national group that makes quilts for wounded veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. It is so theraputic for me to do these activities.

We lit a virtual candle with my daughter and looked through the pictures of the landmarks which had been lit up blue. We are currently trying to improve the care offered by the local hospital for children with diabetes, what we have experienced over the last two years has been well below what should be provided.

Hooray! That's so inspiring. I must tell you, Annette, how much good it does for me to hear about you and the boys. You see, when I was dx'd at 13 and during my teenage years, my parents never got involved with any diabetes organizations, and my mother did not want me to go to one of the Diabetes camps. I never met any other diabetics. I felt very alone, and somewhat ashamed of my diabetes. Now I see all you are doing, and it kinda makes up for what I went through.
