Hi Anthony: I had a penile prosthetic installed in 1992. It has benefits and some drawbacks. First you need to understand that the ED drugs were not available. I used the injections for several years before I choose to have the surgery. The end ...

My Medical History...Updated

Ok, this post is not a boring one-sided governmental entry to remind you of HIPAA act. After nearly 11 years in insurance, everytime I get the prequisite handout or have to sign something I am asked "Do you understand...?" I usually cut the person off and say, "Yes I know about HIPAA, so don't worry."

This is actually about asking questions when seeing your doctors. And how important it is.

I've recently gone through a series of medical problems that have taken quite a toll on my body. After 2… Continue

Complications Return

Well I got some numbers back that threw me for a loop, a BIG loop. I am not surprised given my history of trying to be compliant. But my ALB/creatinine ratio was over 1,000. And my concentrated creatinine was over 800. That's got to be well around 800-900% post normal. So what's it all mean? CKD likely. CKD for those who don't known the acronym is chronic kidney disease. It's just another add-on to the list of complications I have from this disease:

- ED
- GERD
- CKD?
- Bad eyes

So suffice to… Continue

The Perils of Healthcare - Part 1

We've all seen the growing and frightening statistics regarding diabetes here in America. No matter what age, race, gender, or orientation we are, diabetes is affecting all of us in form or another. For what seems like the millionth time in my life I have to face a new doctor and describe ad nauseum my history, my symptoms, and my FEARS. Yet IMHO (in my humble opinion in net speak) we also face a challenge of having to find quality healthcare, particularly here in the area I reside.

Having come… Continue

A New Mouth

After some 30 years of bad home care, personal problems, and bad dentists, I finally have met a dental saviour who agrees with me as a patient of what I want. Half jokingly he asked me what sort of smile do I want. I replied, "After 30 plus years, I just want A smile!"

But now comes the fun of a year on soft foods. Great way to lose weight eh? It's still difficult, a week after my procedure (2 root canals and 2 extractions) to eat with sutures, although those come out today. But it is an opport… Continue

Are My Legs Too Fat?

Ok, please don't take this personally but I have some rather LARGE legs right now. No it isn't from pumping iron or doing more leg squats than a catcher in baseball. Now that I am back in trying to be compliant with my care, I've been noticing the weight gain that insulin brings (at least for me). When you are injecting as much as 60 units of N and 5-24 units of R, I had to wonder if I was just getting the edema from that. Then I did some fact checking about the other medicines I am taking (Avap… Continue
