Thanks Anthony!! I appreciate the feedback, and I'm glad that I'm able to help in some way.

Regarding the Medtronic sensors, I've heard (here and elsewhere) about the new sensor they've developed called the Enlite. I think DiabetesMine.com has a pretty good summary of it. It's supposed to be smaller and easier to use than the current Softsenser (Soft?! Who are they kidding!) but currently it's not available in the U.S. because of FDA issues. Medtronic wants to market it as being usable for more than 3 days, but if they did that, then the current pumps would be incompatible. (The software in the pump, which is FDA approved, tells the user to replace the sensor after 3-days, and they'd get in lots of trouble if they told patients to circumvent those rules in order to use the Enlite). Actual product development, I believe, is complete or near-complete. They might also be trying to get approval for use in places on the body other than the abdomen. There's a current ongoing thread on TuD called "MM sensors are bent" which deals with the pain of inserting the current sensors. If you haven't stumbled on it yet, do a search and take a look.

I think I'll be posting another blog post later today about the sensor... stay tuned. I've actually debated starting up my own D-blog, but there are so many of them out there that I don't know if it's worthwhile. I know I don't keep up with many of them myself.

I'm also trying to shift my career towards diabetes somehow (I've got an engineering background and have worked in wireless telecom for a long time) but I'm not sure how. Other than from the School of Hard Knocks, I really don't have the credentials.

Thanks again for your kind words, and for your encouragement for me to continue.

Scott
