Journey of The Red Rider

Posted on September 1, 2009 at 8:59pm 1 Comment

This past Monday I had an experience I had only read about. I was out riding my bike and got hit by a car. Fortunately she only hit by back wheel and sent me spinning. I was doing about 12 mph going through an intersection and this lady did not judge her distance very well. I knew she was going to hit me so I just got ready for impact and braced myself for road rash. I was ok nothing was broken the bike was even fine except the rear tire went flat and my left butt cheek and left forearm were… Continue

Saturdays training ride

Yesterday I went out for a 3 hour ride with the group from bike shop. The weather was threatening but the rain held off. It was cloudy and the temps were in the low 80's. My house is 5 miles from the bike shop where the ride starts so I had a bowl of cerial and hopped on the bike and headed to the bike shop. Before I ate my cerial my blood sugar was 101 before the ride started it was 193. Not bad a good place to be before a long ride. The route was not flat. There were some sections where I was… Continue

When I came to in ICU they told me I had type 1 diabetes, that was the begining of a whole new life for me. After getting out of the hospital 6 weeks after going in I started reading all I could read about diabetes. One day while WAITING and WAITING at the Endo's office I picked up a copy of Diabetes Forecast magazine. In the back of the the magazine was an… Continue
