Help! I don't feel the side of my toes!
It's been 2 years since I got diagnosed with type 2 after developing gestational diabetes that didn't go away. I've been going to my check-ups and my A1c's have been on the mid 5's. I'm due for another A1c but I noticed that both of my toes are numb. At first, I tought it was temporary but it's been around 2 weeks and still numb. I also noticed that I have a bruise on my nail. rachel said… - Hi! I was also told originally that I had type 2. LADA often has a slower onset than straight type 1, so my sugars were only kind of bad after my pregnancy (fasting of 159) and my post meals were in the 180s or so. I insisted on referral to an endo (I new I was not type 2). They checked for GAD antibodies, insulin antibodies and pacreatic antibodies, all of which were positive. I did have some residual c-peptide, but that's because of the timing of catching the disease early in the process. If I were you I would see and endo for sure (maybe at at academic medical center if you have one in your area).
Also, some nationalities do get type 2 even though they are thin (asian, african)... but you don't look like either.
Trust your instincts! Get seen and don't ever be afraid of multiple opinions!
