Last one - promise. Hubby tells me those bags were about $300 apiece. oops.

p.s. I also wanted to warn you about one other thing - the cruise people handled our baggage for most of the land trip and I'm sure they will take care of yours as well, but the 'handlers' were very hard on our poor innocent baggage! We went out with 2 new pieces of "good" luggage (each cost us over $100 on sale) and came back with everything broken somewhere. We were able to salvage one bag and repair another but both of the new pieces were pretty badly mangled - and we did have two full weeks of travelling overland. Just thought I'd let you know in case you're new at this. We were and it kind of surprised us how badly everyone treated our bags, but you've probably done lotsa travelling before?

Thought maybe I'd reply to your post over here instead of (further) gumming up bsc's thread. But I had to tell you that flight over Denali is phenomenal! I put a few of the 200 pictures I took during our 1 hour flight up on my page (all the ones from above...duh) but it was truly the highlight of our land trip. That & the animals in the national park. We weren't going to $pend the outrageous fee for the flight & couldn't go on the one that landed on the glacier as my hubby was too heavy at the time, but as you can see by my pictures, we had an absolutely PERFECT day. People at the park were saying they only get 1 or 2 days like that every year when one can see the very top of Mt McKinley & we just lucked out. It rained for the cruise part down the coast the last (3rd) week but we were happy in our little cabin with the verandah. That (verandah) was 'splurging' too but it was money well spent since we were pretty tuckered after our 2 weeks of travel through the Yukon & northern Alaska. The ship was a welcome respite! The only part that annoyed me was having to bring a 'good' dress for one night on the ship. I coulda used the room that I took up with that dress 'n shoes 'n purse 'n hose etc! Casual was the dress everywhere else we went! And we were the only Canadians in our busload, so we sure stood out in our shorts & t-shirts. All the folks from Florida & S.Texas were decked out in their parkas & mitts! And those were the 70 degree days! Don't know why they thought it was so cold - maybe first thing in the morning, but the rest of the day was definitely shorts 'n T's weather - especially in Denali! The south coast was a bit soggy & cooler but it was also September by then. I'm sure your son will enjoy the flexibility that a pump will bring. May I suggest lots of logging (I know, a pain) in the first few weeks. I only know a very few ppl who've gone back to shots after pumping. good luck, and keep in touch, we're here to help!
